Huge department stores brim with shoppers, neon flashes from dusk to dawn, and the entire world pays heed to the slightest fluctuation on the Nikkei Index. From the Imperial Palace and Meiji Shrine to the fabled Ginza district, 20th-century Tokyo is an intriguing composite of East and West. Yuppies sporting Walkmen bow formally in greeting. Women in kimonos and Dior suits stroll side-by-side. Geishas play samisens while disc jockeys play the Top Forty. Japanese houses of wood and paper stand in the shadow of towering steel and mortar. Not far away, one of the world's most impressive sights soars 12,388 feet to its snow-clad peak: Mount Fuji, the majestic symbol of Japan. |

Submit Your Own Review!Lots of food, clean, friendly ship
Pros: Lots of food, clean, friendly ship
Cons: Lots of noise in viewing & seating areas due to high numbers of guests. It's a BIG ship!
Review: Super large ship. LOTS of guests! Very caring, attentive staff & crew! Many Many activities & options for all age groups.
Lots of entertainment for children
Pros: Lots of entertainment for children
Cons: Lots of lines to stand in based on the number of guests
Review: It was very enjoyable and we had a great time with family. We do prefer the smaller ships though.
Many activities, beautiful ship, friendly attentive staff
Pros: Many activities, beautiful ship, friendly attentive staff
Cons: Huge ship. Lots of walking to cross back and forth to restaurants, bars, cabins etc.
Review: Beautiful ship with a very friendly attentive staff and crew. It’s also very big so it took time and energy to cross to restaurants, activities, and cabins. No regular RC shopping was available. All the shops onboard were extremely high end. Cartier etc. Entertainment was either absolutely wonderful to just “so, so.” Sight lines were a problem at times in certain venues. We enjoyed eating in the dining room. Our waiters were wonderful. Overall though, it was a wonderful cruise.
The staff is amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, willing to help
Pros: The staff is amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, willing to help
Cons: The ship is huge, so there are a lot of people, about 4500. Long lines at elevators and Windjammer at all hours. Bars are always full, so seating with a larger group us a challenge.
Review: Lots of fun games, but be there 15 minutes early. They keep a tight schedule. All the dance classes are full, everyone wants to participate, so be early to get a spot. The food is delicious, well prepared and attractive. Wait staff very accommodating to dietary needs. If not happy with meal, let them know and get something else, it's ok. The ship has so many different locations to relax or gather. Very clean and sanitized constantly. Try to attend as many shows as you can. The dancers and singers are top notch professionals. The Specialty Restaurants are quite an experience and unique in their own way, so be sure to try them. The shops have lovely jewelry, purses, and other nice items. No discount except on last sail day. The art auction is fun, even if you don't buy, very good artwork and lots of information on artists.
Great staff, food options, ship activities
Pros: Great staff, food options, ship activities
Cons: Excursions very expensive and not necessary to enjoy the cruise
Review: Cruise with no stops would be just as enjoyable
The ship was beautiful and the staff were amazing!
Pros: The ship was beautiful and the staff were amazing!
Cons: The ship is older but it is in great shape and is very clean.
Review: We had a great time and we are always impressed with how kind everyone is aboard the ship.
Big ship designed well to hold 4,600 passengers.
Pros: Big ship designed well to hold 4,600 passengers.
Cons: Loading and unloading 4,600 passengers.
Review: I recently sailed on this ship for a trip to Alaska. Because of engine problems, the itinerary was changed. Something out of my control, but disappointing anyway. We missed sailing into the glacier area, which was one of the draws of this trip. Also, pulling into Victoria, Canada at 1630 was a waste of a port. Couldn’t they have arrived at 7 or 8 like at most ports? Service was excellent as expected on Royal Caribbean. We never felt that is was carrying 4,600 passengers, so it was designed well. One nit pick though: why, when the average spent by each cruiser is close to $1,500, is the toilet paper so poor? C’mon RCL, spend a little on two ply.
Everything lived up to the "WOW" factor. I loved the dynamic dining most of all.
Pros: Everything lived up to the "WOW" factor. I loved the dynamic dining most of all.
Cons: The reason they didn't get 5 stars: I and many others were terribly disappointed in the "Barbados Beach" shore excursion. The place looked like it should have been boarded up. They did not tell us about the seaweed until after the tickets were purchased. The seaweed was so bad you had to find a place to make a path to get to the water. If you weren't in the water the stench was so bad I would rather have paid more money to go to some place decent.
Review: Overall it was our second best vacation ever, second only to Hawaii! Thanks for your help in the planning process. I told you when we met I was impressed and will gladly supply you with "word of mouth advertising". BTW: I didn't forget the "Martini". They had a Mix and Mingle with complimentary champagne. Being the good sport that I am, I drank one for you and one for me! Thanks, Lee
The staff was wonderful and very helpful with any issues. We had a really good stateroom attendant. We ate at all the complementary restaurants and the service was excellent. It was nice trying out new resaurants but we would forget each night where we were eating and the times.
Pros: The staff was wonderful and very helpful with any issues. We had a really good stateroom attendant. We ate at all the complementary restaurants and the service was excellent. It was nice trying out new resaurants but we would forget each night where we were eating and the times.
Cons: Trying to get reservations for dinners was a nightmare at times. We waited hours in line to book our dinners since the computer showed everything was booked. Not enough staff regarding booking new cruises. Normal wait time was 1 hour to see a staff member. Half the time the RC App would crash and did not match any of our reservations.
Review: Overall we had a great time on the ship. We were aware that this is a brand new ship and they need to work out some of the kinks.
Excellent Service, Great Food and Entertainment and Fun Excursions
Pros: Excellent Service, Great Food and Entertainment and Fun Excursions
Cons: Grumpy Old People
Review: We had a wonderful time on Quantum of the Seas. Not only is it a beautiful ship but it was full of service oriented staff that went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and took care of our every need. We loved the easy access to reservations for the restaurants and shows through our phone and being able to keep track of what we had planned everyday. The Vitality Spa was a favorite of ours and the staff there was beyond wonderful. We enjoyed the variety of food that was served in the several complimentary restaurants and again the service was beyond anything we are accustomed to in our daily lives, so very special. Even regarding the few issues we ran into, or thought we had it only took a quick trip to customer services and it was all cleared up and we were happier than before. The only thing that got on my nerves was the complaining I heard from the older passengers who obviously don't adapt well to change and didn't like the differences they found on this cruise compared with their last, but ourselves, well we thought it was perfect and can't wait to do it again!

Review: Overall enjoyed our cruise but disappointed in the general level of service. There were some times we received expectional service & other times service was below average with general service average. I expected exceptional service to be the overall standard offered. Disappointed in some of the food offered - in particular those restaurants featured as " fine dining " - The Grande & Coastal Kitchen Many issues with the general response being " ship is new " - I do not feel this is adequate as we paid for full service not a rebated price for "new ship"
Beautiful ship, well maintained, plenty of space to relax, staterooms had plenty of storage areas, room attendants were courteous, helpful and polite.
Pros: Beautiful ship, well maintained, plenty of space to relax, staterooms had plenty of storage areas, room attendants were courteous, helpful and polite.
Cons: Entertainment areas ( aside from threater) were too small for such a large ship. Deck 6 should have never been designated as a partially obstructed view w/balcony stateroom. We were very disappointed with a total obstruction of the lifeboat parked on the balcony. The dining rooms were very disorganized. The dining personnel were inexperienced and in some cases impolite. Not enough help! Food was not up to standard. Very disappointing for any dining experience.
Review: Would liked to have seen a Welcoming Show and Departure Show as well as a show every evening. (Perhaps one of the ice). The entertainment we did see was excellent. The technology was incredible, the music was incredible, the Robot Bar was something to behold, we were glad to experience this technology, but as Senior Citizens will not seek it out. Both boarding and departure procedures were very well organized. Our Thank You to Royal Carribean "Quantum of the Seas" for this unique experience. Our Thanks also to the Captain for keeping us informed about the weather conditions and how he was making our journey home a little more comfortable.
Pros: No Pros

Review: Would like the one big dining room for all. I think they should have bathrooms near each restaurant. The food was excellent in each restaurant.Enjoyed everything else.
Enjoyed the islands and the weather, the beaches were great, Met new people and the dining was enjoyable
Pros: Enjoyed the islands and the weather, the beaches were great, Met new people and the dining was enjoyable

Review: Flea market atmosphere. Not enough shows
Beautiful new ship
Pros: Beautiful new ship
Cons: The food was very ordinary
Review: I would prefer classic dining
Beautiful new ship.
Pros: Beautiful new ship.
Cons: Mediocre food, software issues with bookings, lack of email without needing to purchase ships data package.
Review: Comparing my experience on the Quantum of the Seas with the cruises that I have taken on Celebrity, I will return to Celebrity.
None
Pros: None
Cons: I did like the concept of different restaurants and odd hours for shows
Review: I prefer a smaller ship. I guess it has something to do with age. I'm sure younger people would enjoy it and all the technology that goes with it
The entertainment was wonderful. The ship was spotless. The food selection was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Liked north star, rock wall
Pros: The entertainment was wonderful. The ship was spotless. The food selection was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Liked north star, rock wall
Cons: No wifi. No daily news paper. TV selections limited. Not fond of Dynamic Dining. Hated the wedge and ottomen seats in Diamond Club.
Review: The Diamond Club was very good. We met a lot of nice people. The storage in our cabin was a pleasant surprise, as was the bathroom. Lots of room. The dance music was very good. However the smoke in the casino was awful. I ended up with a sinus infectin and my wife couldn't even stay there. You need to rethink that. Maybe one bar and a section of the outside deck. Similar to Celebrity. The ship is beautiful. My wife commented on how beautiful the artwork is.
Great Ship, staff and accomodations.
Pros: Great Ship, staff and accomodations.
Cons: none
Review:
They are still working out some bugs that come up. Beautiful ship.
Pros: They are still working out some bugs that come up. Beautiful ship.
Cons: Missed things like a floral shop. Even after taking the tips out. The night before leaving they left extra envelopes if you wanted to tip someone extra.
Review: I enjoyed eating every night in a different place. Some times schedules got mixed up and had to be worked out. Beautiful Burial at Sea program. Would recommemd doing it again. Didgetal age you could get into your room and meet up with people if you had an Ipod or better yet an Iphone
Beautiful ship, food in restaurants excellent, beautiful concierage room, shows excellent, cabins larger than most with more storage and much bigger showers
Pros: Beautiful ship, food in restaurants excellent, beautiful concierage room, shows excellent, cabins larger than most with more storage and much bigger showers
Cons: Long lines (which were not seen on the Allure), miss the dining room
Review: They are still working out the kinks when we cruised so there were problems with elevators, reservations, photos which I assume will be fixed with time.
