Tauranga | Friday, Jan 24, 2025 | Friday, Jan 24, 2025 |
Tauranga is the principal city of the Bay of Plenty. Well-planned parks and gardens were left by 19th century missionaries for today’s residents and visitors to enjoy. Sprawling along the sweeping bay, Tauranga is a popular summer resort. Visit the mission house and walk around the 1860s campsite of the military, situated on a cliff overlooking the harbor. Other attractions include the Waitomo Caves, a vast underground network of water-sculpted, cathedral-like limestone grottoes, big-game fishing and scuba diving, and spectacular flightseeing excursions over White Island, New Zealand's most active volcano. The area of the Bay of Plenty is blessed with a good climate and fine beaches. Other sights include Monmouth Redoubt, The Strand, and Mount Maunganui.
Picton | Saturday, Jan 25, 2025 | Saturday, Jan 25, 2025 |
Picton, located at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, is the starting point into South Island. The surrounding area is renowned for its spectacular seascapes. Picton makes an ideal base for an exploration of the Marlborough Sounds. Today, large areas of the Sound are protected as the Marlborough Sounds Maritime Park. Cruising these waterways is the best way to get a close look at the many secluded bays and bush-clad headlands that make up the park. Excursions inland travel to the heart of a major wine growing region. Marlborough's wines have an international reputation for excellence and the vineyards around Blenheim offer some exclusive vintages that may be difficult to obtain elsewhere. Other sights include Picton Whaling Museum and the Edwin Fox Center.
Wellington | Sunday, Jan 26, 2025 | Sunday, Jan 26, 2025 |
Located at southwestern North Island, New Zealand’s capital city derives its character and charm from the wooded hills that curve like a green amphitheater around Wellington’s harbor. Commercial and government buildings rim the waterfront; nostalgic Victorian buildings mingle pleasantly with more modern structures and above the business district, dwellings precariously cling to steep slopes. Wellington was the first settlement organized by the London-based New Zealand Company. Other sights include Kelburn Cable Car, Museum of Wellington, City and Sea, and National Museum and Art Gallery (Te Papa).
Lyttleton (Christchurch) | Monday, Jan 27, 2025 | Monday, Jan 27, 2025 |
Located on New Zealand’s South Island, the port of Lyttleton is the gateway to Christchurch. A short drive through a tunnel brings one to the picturesque town of Christchurch.
Dunedin (Port Chalmers) | Tuesday, Jan 28, 2025 | Tuesday, Jan 28, 2025 |
Port Chalmers is an attractive historic town and modern container port located on a tiny peninsula seven miles from Dunedin. It features magnificent harbour views, fine 19th century buildings and a thriving artistic community. It was originally founded in 1844 as the port for Dunedin. From here you can also visit Olveston stately home, Otago Peninsula (Larnach Castle and Albatross colony), and the Taieri Gorge Railway.

Fjordland National Park | Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025 | Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025 |
Created in 1952, Fjordland is the largest national park in New Zealand, and one of the largest in the world - stretching 143 miles from northeast to southwest, and at its broadest 50 miles across, covering an area of 3,000,000 acres. Fjordland National Park is also the largest area of wilderness in New Zealand. There are only three roads in the park (one with public access), and only a few tracks, although three of the country's Great Walks (the Milford, Routeburn and Kepler tracks) are located within its boundaries. Fjordland remained wild because it is mountainous and extremely rugged. Fiordland is submitted to very high rainfall weather pattern characteristic of the west coast of South Island. Temperatures are mild, at least at low altitude. Forests cover all of Fjordland National Park from valley bottom up to the treeline. Most of these forests are beech. Wildlife includes forest birds, sea birds, marine mammals, among others.

The shipboard medical centers are primarily intended to provide acute care for illness and accidents that may occur while on vacation and are not intended to provide long-term care for patients with chronic illnesses or as a substitute for regular health care.
The medical centers are intended to provide quality maritime medical care for guests and crew members aboard the ships; initiate appropriate stabilization, diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers for critically ill or mentally unstable patients; support, comfort and care for patients onboard; and facilitate the timely medical evacuation of patients, if appropriate.
Charges for medical services will be added to guests' shipboard account. Guests will be provided with an itemized account to submit to their insurance company. Please note that Princess ships are registered in Bermuda. Guests should verify with their insurer if coverage applies outside the United States, or purchase appropriate travel insurance.
Pregnant women entering the 24th week of pregnancy by the last day of the cruise are not allowed to sail.
All pregnant women are required to produce a physician’s letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and the pregnancy is not high-risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD) calculated from both Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and ultrasound (if performed).
It is strongly recommend that pregnant guests review their health insurance coverage before cruising. Many policies, including Medicare, will not pay for services or hospitalization outside of the country or for emergency evacuation.
Guests may want to consider Princess Vacation Protection, which is available for purchase up to the time of final payment of the cruise fare. If the guest did not secure Princess Vacation Protection, it is recommended that they secure other travel protection.
Keeping the comfort of guests a priority, Princess has implemented the following smoking policy:
Designated Smoking Areas
Clearly marked "Designated Smoking Areas" are available onboard and include a sufficient number of ashtrays that are emptied regularly. Generally, these areas include cigar lounges, a section of the nightclub and casino, as well as a portion of the open decks. As a safety precaution, passengers are reminded to properly dispose of cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco, which are never to be thrown overboard as this may be sucked back into the ship and cause fires.
Stateroom Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all passenger staterooms and on stateroom balconies. Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the guest's stateroom account.
Electronic Cigarettes
The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in all areas onboard with the exception of dining areas and the Princess Theater. However, should a fellow guest in the vicinity feel inconvenienced and complain, even after being told the difference between electronic and real cigarettes, the guest will be asked to refrain from smoking the electronic cigarette.
Princess is happy to meet your request for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar, and vegetarian diets. Guests may visit Cruise Personalizer® on the Princess website (https://book.princess.com/cruisepersonalizer/) to indicate dietary preferences.
In addition, kosher meals and baby food are available upon advance written request. Any other special diet requests must be authorized in advance by the Princess corporate office.
Guests or their travel agent must advise Princess, in writing, of any special diet, allergies, or medical needs. Requests must be received no later than 35 days prior to departure for cruises to Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal and Coastal Getaways. For all other cruises, requests must be received no later than 65 days prior to departure. Once onboard, please check with the Maitre D' to confirm the request.
Princess makes every effort to accommodate guests with disabilities. Guests can ensure a successful trip by working with them in advance. Guests or their travel agents should notify Princess of wheelchair usage, special needs, and/or service animals before the voyage. Notices and requests must be made in writing and faxed to the Princess Access office at 661-284-4408 at least 30 days prior to sailing. For answers to any questions about the program, please call the Princess Access office at 661-284-4521.
All Princess ships have wheelchair-accessible staterooms, but it is highly recommended that guests bring collapsible wheelchairs, as the widths of the stateroom doors vary. Guests may bring their own, or they can pre-reserve a wheelchair and have it and other medical equipment delivered to the ship by contacting Special Needs at Sea at 800-513-4515 (outside the US 954-585-0575), or by visiting Special Needs at Sea's website (http://www.specialneedsatsea.com/). Alternatively, guests may contact CareVacations at 877-478-7827 or cruiseshipassist.com. Some areas on some ships are not wheelchair accessible.
Passengers utilizing mobility devices with batteries are advised that the batteries must be a dry cell type, and must be stored and recharged in the stateroom. Mobility devices of any kind, like any other items, may not be left outside the stateroom. Because of staffing limitations, it is recommended that guests travel with a companion who is physically able to assist them both onboard and onshore.
Travelers with disabilities should check in with the onboard Tour Office to ensure all shore excursions can accommodate them. Not all port facilities are accessible for those using mobility devices. Ports may be accessed by a variety of methods including a ramped gangway, a series of steps or by tender. In some cases, you may be able to access the tender, but the shoreside facility will not be accessible. Many ports of call use a mechanism known as a “stair climber” to assist passengers up and down the gangway. Passengers must transfer to a Princess wheelchair, which is connected to the stair climber and operated by the ship’s personnel. Guests may be precluded from going ashore if they cannot transfer or if their personal mobility device cannot be easily disembarked. With the safety and comfort of guests in mind, the decision to permit or prohibit passengers from going ashore will be made on each occasion by the ship’s Captain, and the decision will be final. Ports that normally use tenders to access the shore are noted on the itinerary.
The maximum weight of the wheelchair including guest cannot exceed 600 lbs. on transportation lifts. If the guests has purchased a Princess Transfer at the start or end of the cruise, they must be made aware that lift-equipped transportation may not be available in their port of embarkation or disembarkation.
Tender Port Policy
The goal of Princess Cruises is to provide a safe comfortable cruise experience for all guests. If a guest will be using a mobility device during their sailing, it is strongly recommended that they travel with a person physically fit to assist with the guest's needs both onboard and ashore. Embarking and disembarking can be challenging for those with limited mobility. Many major ports of call provide easy access for wheelchairs and scooters. However, due to various conditions - steepness of the gangway, weather, shore-side facilities, tidal and sea conditions - passengers using mobility devices may be required to transfer to a stair climber or be precluded from going ashore. Princess staff will make every effort to assist but are not allowed to individually physically lift more than 50 pounds (22 kg).
Some ports of call require the ship to anchor off shore. Passengers are then taken to shore by small boats or tenders. When tendering is required, passengers using mobility devices will not be transferred into or out of the tender, if lifting in excess of the above limitation is required. Many tender ports do not provide wheelchair access so even if the passenger can board the tender they may not be able to disembark ashore. Again the shore-side facilities, movement of the tender, weather and tidal conditions can also preclude tendering.
The decision to allow any passenger to board a tender or disembark the vessel will be made by the Captain on the basis of the safety and welfare of all involved and is final. If passengers are unable to tender or disembark because of circumstances outlined above there will be no refund or credit for missed ports. While Princess recognizes guests' disappointment, the safety of both guests and crew takes precedence.
Entry regulations for service animals vary by port. Passengers are advised to consult authorities at each port prior to departure for more information. Princess does not have food onboard for animals. The choice of dog litter material is limited and varies by ship.
Electronic Assistance Devices
Princess ships are equipped with “All-in-One Kits” with TTY that can be used in most passenger cabins and at Princess wilderness lodges. Most televisions onboard provide closed captioning and most onboard theaters have assisted listening devices. Electric outlets in most staterooms are limited to one and it is helpful to travel with an extension cord for electrical equipment. Princess also offers JAWS Professional software with a KOSS-TD/80 headset on one terminal in each Internet Café on every ship.
Internet access is available on all Princess vessels through the 24-hour onboard internet café and wireless network, which is available in staterooms and various public areas.
Guests can use the state-of-the-art computer systems located in the internet café to access their web-based email accounts or to browse the internet. Guests may also use their own wireless-enabled laptops to access the internet through the onboard wireless network.
Guests may contact the Internet Café Manager onboard for information regarding the charges that apply to internet and wireless services, and any other specific requirements.
Please note that internet access via satellite is significantly slower than high-speed connections on shore. Princess reserves the right to filter content accessed via the ship's internet services. High bandwidth consuming applications - such as voice over IP telephony, peer-to-peer file sharing, and streaming media - may be restricted onboard Princess vessels.
The onboard medical facilities meet or exceed the standards established by the American College of Emergency Physicians. Facilities are staffed by full-time registered doctors and nurses. In addition to twice-daily office hours, they are available 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency.
Princess offers entertaining options for kids ages 3-17. Scheduled activities are supervised by a specially trained staff of dedicated Youth Activities Coordinators. However, Youth Center staff cannot administer medication, bottle-feed, change diapers, provide meal service, or offer individual one-on-one supervision. Children must be 3 years of age or older and fully potty trained to participate in the youth program.

Submit Your Own Review!Princess cruise line, Staff is great, the Royal is a very comfortable ship
Pros: Princess cruise line, Staff is great, the Royal is a very comfortable ship
Cons: Weather was Alaska in the fall, overcast with occasional rain, and cool.
Review: The Royal is a great ship and the cruising to Alaska for a cruise-tour, or just visiting along the coast is always a wonderful experience. This was our third Alaskan cruise and will go again soon. The Royal has a customer capacity of just over 3,000 so would be considered "small" by today's standards. Had a balcony cabin which is very comfortable for the two of us, plus the view is breath taking for a great part of the voyage.
Friendly staff, great entertainment, efficient boarding and disembarking process.
Pros: Friendly staff, great entertainment, efficient boarding and disembarking process.
Cons: Elevators (often skipped floors where you and others waited). Too little time in Victoria!
Review: I would recommend this trip to Alaska in warmer months. Chilly and rainy Really limited, or totally eliminated, several excursions.

Pros: Beautiful ship, A+ crew, Stateroom Clean (Jie gets an A++)
Cons: Learned on day 6 of the 2 free cover charges at certain diners
Review: Where does one start? Our Mother Daughter trip was sooo fun! Weather was perfect (August 19-26), the ship sailed smoothly, our stateroom was ALWAYS clean, Jie was OUTSTANDING!! He greeted us daily, explained things well, gave tips of what to do, etc...he is good!! We also had exceptional service from Kris and his coworkers at Crooners Bar! He/they work hard on keeping their guests libations coming, shared short stories of entertainment on stops, answered questions of areas of the ship, etc...OUTSTANDING as well!! We also enjoyed Gerald, our waiter, in the Symphony dining room. He made us laugh, knew us by name on second visit, explained the menu, etc...OUTSTANDING TOO!! Was a wonderful vacation, really could not have been better...Thank YOU All!!

Food, beds, atmosphere, service
Pros: Food, beds, atmosphere, service
Cons: No nightly comedy show
Review: Compared to Carnival, the beds and food were so much better. The broadway type shows were not as good and they didn’t have nightly comedy shows but there was plenty to see and do.
Stops, food, service, beds, excursions
Pros: Stops, food, service, beds, excursions
Cons: Too short of timeAt some ports
Review: My family group of 11 had a fabulous time. Ship was beautiful and immaculate. Service top notch everywhere on board.
Everything was fantastic
Pros: Everything was fantastic
Cons: nothing
Review: The Alaska cruise was amazing and the first cruise I did. I will definitely go again.
Food, Cruise staff and waiters all exceptional. Décor sensational.
Pros: Food, Cruise staff and waiters all exceptional. Décor sensational.
Cons: Stateroom balconies are an absolute joke, not even enough space to accommodate a non disabled person.
Review: The ship and the crew were very good, the food was excellent including the buffet which was better than any I've ever seen before. The only draw backs are the Facets shop and the Art Gallery staff. They make the experience of even browsing a nightmare. They are very over zealous pushing you to purchase their wares. I felt very uncomfortable even walking past their shops. Also the balconies are so small that a chair just barely fits, very uncomfortable to even have a cup of coffee on. Better to just book a windowed stateroom.
Great ship and crew. The Club Class Dining is amazing!! The head waiter, Vincente, made every night special!
Pros: Great ship and crew. The Club Class Dining is amazing!! The head waiter, Vincente, made every night special!

Review: Easy and highly organized embarkation process in Vancouver and an expedited and well planned departure from the ship. In our case we disembarked to the Princess train to Denali. The train trip and stay in Denali and subsequent bus trip transfer to Fairbanks with a paddle wheeler cruise on the river was outstanding and very well planned and organized by Princess. I recommend the post cruise train to Denali as a must see!!

The staff was so helpful and knowledgable. The food was great. The ship was clean.
Pros: The staff was so helpful and knowledgable. The food was great. The ship was clean.
Cons: We hated wearing the masks. My husband and I were separated getting on the ship. We came in on different levels. We had never been on a cruise before so it took us awhile to find each other. The wifi service that we paid for was not the best. We were not allowed to text people without iPhones. Fortunately, we didn't have any emergencies with family while we were gone.
Review: See comments above.

Review: Our first ever cruise met all expectations and more.
Hard working, attentive Staff / Great Ports of Call
Pros: Hard working, attentive Staff / Great Ports of Call
Cons: Very poor communications from Ship’s staff, Room amenities
Review: Rooms are seriously outdated: Our mini-suite had only TWO outlets in the room, and NO USB ports available. We were lucky to have brought an outlet extender that included USB ports. Also, the high back chair is superfluous and just takes up space. Ship communications was also a problem: 1) We were assigned the Symphony Dining Room and found it closed. After two days we were informed that the Symphony was closed and we were moved to the Concerto Dining Room 1 floor up. 2) In Juneau, we had purchased a helicopter excursion to a glacier scheduled for 9:30 am. We arrived at 9:15 to find the excursion was cancelled due to weather. The rep told us they had canceled early that morning due to weather on the glacier. The ship did not notify us, and by the time we found out all of the excursions that interested us were sold out. (Then, rather than issue a full refund, Royal deducted our room charges from the near $900 amount we paid. It seemed rather chintzy.
The staff was amazing. Cleanliness was top notch.

Pros: Ship did not seem crowded even with 4,000+ onboard. Staff extremely pleasant

Pros: Food quality was ok; two of the four evening shows were very enjoyable and of high quality.
Cons: Public areas of ship were very crowded.
Review: Wife found the trip to be very relaxing and enjoyable; I believe that the cost represented decent value.
Newer (2013) ship, varied deck selections, many bars and restaurants,
Pros: Newer (2013) ship, varied deck selections, many bars and restaurants,
Cons: Ship is BIG. Too big for me. Too many people and a lot from Los Angeles on a short cruise who were interested in partying.
Review: The rooms are very small. Perhaps if one were to upgrade to a larger room it might be better. We never saw our rooms steward, although the towels were changes and the bed was made daily. Unless you use the high-tech location finding stuff around the boat, you cannot tell which is the bow and which is the stern unless you are on deck. It takes a good two days to get oriented. Perhaps Princess cruises has smaller vessels, but this was too big for me, however some of the main areas were beautifully decorated. Also, if one is leaving on one of the short cruises from Los Angeles, the guests are a pretty mixed crowd many of whom are just interested in partying. If that is what you want, that's great but not entirely suited to me. Embarking was not well organized and debarking was completely confusing and disorganized perhaps because of the size of the ship and numbers of guests. Would not go on this specific cruise again.
Beautiful ship, good specialty restaurants, Alfredo’s is free! Updated interiors, 3 good production shiows, great staff, excellent cruise director, Matt
Pros: Beautiful ship, good specialty restaurants, Alfredo’s is free! Updated interiors, 3 good production shiows, great staff, excellent cruise director, Matt
Cons: None except live music too loud outside specialty steak house
Review: Really great cruise just like you would want it to be. We got our first Ocean Medallions to just walk on the ship & have drinks brought to you, look at your bill, etc & it worked well. It was a hard app to install though which I read about many times. We love ?? the Royal Princess. It is classy & beautiful & there were always seats in the atrium. The ship did not seem crowded (except in the main show lounge). All of the crew were friendly & helpful. There was a 10 min walk to Seaport Village in San Diego & the Monterey tender dropped us off at the boardwalk. Extremely fast debark.
Great Food and Entertainment
Pros: Great Food and Entertainment
Cons: A little crowded especially in the Buffet. Should have 1 smoking forward
Review: Some of the best food I have ever had on Princess. The Cruise Director's were the Friendliest I have ever encountered and this was #9 on Princess. They stopped and talked to me at least 4 times. Great Entertainment on the ship especially the band One Way who are from Romania. I had many conversations with them and they were cordial talking to us for as long as we wanted too. They are great musicians who sing a very wide variety of songs and were great at all of them from 50's Rock to current hits and also Country.
friendly and attentive staff, spacious stateroom, abundant food
Pros: friendly and attentive staff, spacious stateroom, abundant food
Cons: Only room service and the small international cafe available after 11pm, no other food options
Review: We enjoyed the food, but wished there was more options after 11pm. Lots to do. We enjoyed the retreat pool area for adults only. plenty of lounge chairs available for all guests, packed schedule with lots of activities to choose from. I didnt enjoy the shows as much as other ships.
Food and servicer
Pros: Food and servicer

Pros: greatly enlarged Piazza/ International Cafe area compared to other class of Princess ships
Cons: Need to use a wet face towel to turn knobs on shower controls and hot/warm indicators hard to see
Review: Great that they have enlarged Alfredos Pizza restaurant in the Piazza. Very classy decor throughout the ship.
Great Cabin Stewart, great morning wait staff in Sabatini’s, great food in the Crown Grill
Pros: Great Cabin Stewart, great morning wait staff in Sabatini’s, great food in the Crown Grill
Cons: Wait staff in Sabatini’s dinner service rude and spoiled birthday dinner, everything breaking in SUITE
Review: Our Cabin Stewart “Dali” was the most efficient, pleasant and helpful Stewart we have ever had on a cruise. He was excellent. He couldn’t help the grouting and mold that needed replacing in the SUITE nor the handle falling off the shower so the water couldn’t be turned off or the light ballistics that need to be re-laced in the bathroom not just the light bulbs. The wait staff we had for breakfast in Sabatini’s was personable, fun and always ready with a smile and a joke whereas Jamie the evening waiter we had on my wife's birthday ruined the meal, ignoring her completely, being absolutely rude to her causing us to leave before dessert. Excellent food in the Crown Grill where we ate 3 times with William as our waiter was outstanding. He did his own bit of teasing and laughing and actually had my non dessert eating wife eating dessert on our last night there.
New feel, great staff
Pros: New feel, great staff
Cons: Not a good ship for Alaska
Review: Did not get as close to Hubbard Glacier, or the glaciers in Glaciers Bay Natl. Park as on previous cruises. Staff said ship too big compared to other ships we have been on. Did not go thru Inside Passage, but out to the Pacific going from Ketchican to Vancouver for same reason
Nicely updated cruise ship
Pros: Nicely updated cruise ship
Cons: No Cons
Review: We had 7 days cruise from Vancouver to Whittier (Anchorage), then continued for land tour via train to Denali and McKinley, then back to Anchorage. Cruise was excellent as I previously experienced of Princess. Much of glaciers had been melted compared to my previous visit about 15 years ago, sorry to say that. Land tour was a special one to remember for a long time. The train was nice with glass covered roof, allowing us to see spectacular view during the almost all day traveling to Denali Park. A couple days of land tour after cruise was even more fun to explore the nature of grandiose beautiful nature. We saw all kinds of bears, Musses, and so many of animals. Fantastic experiences over all. Beautiful Loges and very well organized by Princess and staff, excellent services.
Large ship. Lots of variety. Great crew. Clean. Nice rooms
Pros: Large ship. Lots of variety. Great crew. Clean. Nice rooms
Cons: None
Review: We loved the whole experience on land and sea. Alaska is beyond description and all the crew was amazing. The McKinley Lodge and the Denali Lodge could use some refreshing but overall the experience was amazing. Loved the Gastineau guiding whale tour in Juneau and the cruise on the Aleutian Ballad from Deadliest Catch in Ketchikan was the best!! Can’t wait to sale on the Royal Princess again.
Excellent Service from all departments
Pros: Excellent Service from all departments
Cons: The Sanctuary was nice however needs improvements for the price. Charged extra $3.00 for food service delivery.

Review: We weren't sure if we were "cruise" people, so we figured this specific cruise was a good place to start. We were very pleased with the entire process from boarding to disembarking. The staff was friendly, and the staterooms were comfortable. We had a deluxe balcony and appreciated having the extra sitting area in the room as well as outside. We were a little surprised by the emphasis on shopping (specifically for jewelry) but found that easy to ignore. The educational programming was excellent.
Good food and good service
Pros: Good food and good service
Cons: Lacking in quality entertainment and excursions were blasé.
Review: We had seen the comedian on Celebrity cruise in February, same jokes. Country singer was not that good. Activities were mostly for selling you stuff.
Beautiful ship
Pros: Beautiful ship
Cons: Lounge shows, very small balcony
Review: Newly refurbed ship, very traditional decor, quite elegant. Ocean Software programs for use to search locations on ship, shows, etc, were encouraged to be used, very inconsistent and inefficient. Internet/TV cable were generally not available. Food was not up to par in buffet at all, though we met with the wonderful Maitre D twice and he was most interested in hearing what we had to say to make improvements, classy man. Our stateroom attendant was probably the best we have ever had.

Review: This is a excellent cruise to experience wildlife, see nature in its glory. The staff was on cue to give the best possible service. I highly recommend this cruise an the excursions were coordinated very well.

Review: We had a wonderful time viewing and visiting Alaska!
Medallion Class, Excellent Staff, Large Closet Space
Pros: Medallion Class, Excellent Staff, Large Closet Space
Cons: Outdated Shower, Passenger Names Displayed outside doors
Review: The Royal Princess has the feel and look of a traditional cruise ship, but with some modern elegance and technical advantages. The Medallions work seamlessly throughout the experience and are easy to use as little or as much as you would like. The dining staff is amazing, and I highly recommend the Crown Grill and Alfredos for alternatives to the main dining rooms. The ship is large, but it does not feel overwhelming and it does not seem over the top like some ships heading up to Alaska this year. During our sailing, there was a tragedy that Princess Cruise Line handled extremely well. Everyone seemed to love the cruise overall from first-time cruisers to seasoned travelers.
Once we were through the customs in Vancouver the check in procedure was very quick and easy. The rooms were ready on arrival without having to wait a few hours
Pros: Once we were through the customs in Vancouver the check in procedure was very quick and easy. The rooms were ready on arrival without having to wait a few hours
Cons: The entertainment in the theatre was not what I expected...having the same comedian twice was surprising though he was good...shows weren't as elaborate as on other ships.
Review:
excellent service, good food, outstanding handling of tragedy
Pros: excellent service, good food, outstanding handling of tragedy
Cons: ship layout, Ocean Now, dated shower in cabin
Review: Having not been to Alaska for 18 years, it was time to go back. And this time of a cruise line with a long pedigree in Alaska--Princess. I was eager to experience what my clients do every summer. I was extremely happy with almost every aspect of the cruise. This is the latest ship to become Medallion, so I was also able to experience this process. Overall, it was very easy to set up, but I did have some issues on board. Nice surprise -clearing customs in Vancouver. This meant we did not have to do on board, and the Vancouver port authority personnel had a great system in place, whereby when the lines are long, you are directed to be seated in the same order as you were in line. Very handy for elderly or mobility-challenged passengers. That being said, even with my Ocean-Ready medallion that should speed you through the embarkation process, it still took an hour. My cabin, A710, was good. Plenty of hangers and a large closet. Not as many drawers, but there were shelves in the closet. Bathroom was clean and functional, but the somewhat dingy shower curtain, that did not stop the water from pooling on the floor (due to its length and the height of the shower curb) could be updated. Room steward, Anthony, was great, and handled my requests promptly. Dinner was also a nice surprise. Due to a medical condition, I eat smaller meals every 4 hours. Dinners aboard ships, with 5 or 6 courses, were always slow for me, since I would have to wait for my companions to eat their appetizers, soup, and salads, before I could get my main course. Princess has streamlined the process. The choices are still there, but not as separate courses. Dishes came promptly and at the correct temperature. I ate one night in the Crown Grill. Excellent steaks and very nice wine list. Service was outstanding. One thing that I very much disliked was the layout of the three dining rooms. I like three smaller dining rooms, but if your cabin is aft, as mine was, you need to constantly walk to the mid-ship elevators if you want to access anything on decks 5 and 6. Your elevators will only serve the dining rooms on those floors. You cannot walk through to get to the Piazza on deck 5, for example. Normally, I prefer Aft to Forward, but on Princess, forward is better because of those dining rooms. I also did not like Ocean Now. Princess touts this as a way to be served drinks and food without moving from your seat. I tried it three times during my week. Once, in the Vista Lounge, before that bar opened. App said my location was not available. Second time, in the Princess Theater. Again, the app said my location was not available. Lastly, I tried in the casino, but you are not allowed to have your cell phone out at the gaming tables, so I could not use the app. I commend Princess on how they handled the air tragedy that occurred on May 13th, when two small planes collided during Misty Fjords Flightseeing. Princess got the affected families and companions off the ship before making a ship-wide announcement. The ensuing delay caused us to arrive late in Juneau the next day. I know the Shore Excursion personnel were up until 3am rescheduling morning tours, and were back at the desk at 730am, handling the guest requests. Princess also canceled some entertainment for that evening, and brought counselors on board for the remaining guests. Disembarkation was smooth.

Princess was a 1st class cruise with excellent staff, food and accommodations.
Pros: Princess was a 1st class cruise with excellent staff, food and accommodations.

Comfortable, wonderful staff, great itinerary
Pros: Comfortable, wonderful staff, great itinerary
Cons: outdated decor, lacking included meal options
Review: Had a wonderful time on board the Royal Princess on the Voyage of the Glaciers Cruise. We really enjoyed all of the ports and felt we had a sufficient amount of time to view the glaciers. We did not experience any hiccups during the check-in process, on board, or the disembarkation process. All was very well organized. I think the ship decor could use a little face lift, and more casual included dining options other than pre-made burgers and pizza at the outdoor grill and the buffet would have been appreciated.
Beautiful Scenery
Pros: Beautiful Scenery
Cons: Lots of sea days, up charged for most things on board. If you choose not to have a drink package only option is Juice for breakfast and water for the rest of the day.
Review: We enjoyed the scenery and the ports of call. The staterooms are lacking a common area to sit unless you sit on the bed. Entertainment in the Prince Live lounge had us laughing every nights. Only went to one show in theater since none of the titles interested us.
Wow! Alaska is the best. Alaska is certainly a dream destination.

Food & Service was great. This Cruise was very good
Pros: Food & Service was great. This Cruise was very good
Cons: This Ship was a Great One; however, for my wife and I at our age, if we were to cruise again we would prefer a smaller vessel with fewer people
Review: Because of the many people on this ship, the wait in the main dining room was too long for service. This was our only complaint.
Great excursions
Pros: Great excursions
Cons: 5:30 dining was a little early for us. 6:00 would be better
Review: We relaxed, visited new places, ate lots of great foods, and most of all had fun.
Cabin service, staff friendliness, the structure and flow of the Horizon Court, the Voice
Pros: Cabin service, staff friendliness, the structure and flow of the Horizon Court, the Voice
Cons: We had to get off!!!!
Review: What a great week! Check-in: arrived at 12:30 and it was a smooth, flawless process. Disembarkation was equally easy, departing with our own arrangements at 9:00 AM (from the time we started walking to our exit from the ship to pulling out of the parking lot, it was 35 minutes.). The only downer was the location of the Allegro Dining Room. We missed it and were frustrated because of the limited access.
New Mattresses
Pros: New Mattresses
Cons: Cabin sofa sleepers are showing their age.

Pros: Great ship, food, staff, & shows

Review: It was great break, even though the weather didn't co-operate a 100% of the time. We really like a little smaller ship with about a thousand less people as this was the biggest ship we've ever been on. Otherwise, great food, staff, and shows.

Pros: Great staff, entertainment, and food
Cons: Way too long of wait to dine in dining room for open seating.
Review: Even though the waiters were fantastic the wait for food was way too slow. 2 hrs from start to finish.
Not having to bring the life vests to the muster drill. Fountain card is added to your room card so no sticker is needed.
Pros: Not having to bring the life vests to the muster drill. Fountain card is added to your room card so no sticker is needed.
Cons: Coffee card is added to your room card and if you don't use all 15 coffee's you can't carry them over to your next cruise.

Ship is beautiful and we loved our cabin and balcony. It was a wonderful way to celebrate out 60th wedding anniversary.
Pros: Ship is beautiful and we loved our cabin and balcony. It was a wonderful way to celebrate out 60th wedding anniversary.
Cons: 3600 is a lot of people !!!
Review: We had a great time, dinners excellent as was service and entertainment superb as usual. We feel shore excursions were so crowded that there was not enough time, in some instances, to see the important things. Like the Book of Kells and Edinburgh Castle. It was a great disappointment we had to miss Inverness, Loch Ness and Culloden but only Mother Nature and high winds can be blamed. Otherwise destinations were interesting.
Staff was exceptionally nice and always very helpful.
Pros: Staff was exceptionally nice and always very helpful.
Cons: Was disorganized when dealing with groups and handling long lines. Lots of 30-45 minute waits. Also, at on-board muster, we waited 45 mins and no crew member ever showed up. We just went back to our cabin. Excursions were very expensive and I did not feel lke they were worth the price.
Review: it was nice but out of my 14 cruises, it was not among the best

Review: This was our first time cruising on the Royal Princess. We have been on many other Princess ships, but this was the best. We loved everything. The way the ship is laid out made it very easy to get around. The state rooms were very nicely furnished, as was the lounges, and dining rooms. The Horizon Court was very spacious and were thought out. The food was outstanding. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We loved the entertainment. Nice variety.

Good service, very comfortable mini-suite, food food, clean ship, especially bathrooms. Quick service at the food locations.
Pros: Good service, very comfortable mini-suite, food food, clean ship, especially bathrooms. Quick service at the food locations.
Cons: I would like to see more activities such as horse racing, jewelry making, glass painting. Our entertainment was cancelled one night & we never found out why. Although, there was a quickly assembled guitar comedian who filled in at the last minute.
Review: We had a very memorable experience. The excursions were interesting in spite of the recent hurricanes to the area. The crew and guides did everything to accommodate the passengers.

Cons: Sabitini's
Review: I loved the cruise.
the service was excellent
Pros: the service was excellent
Cons: entertainment on ship wasn't what I expected
Review: Most on board activities were in the Princess Live TV studio which was always too full. This ship is definitely geared towards older guests - 65 and older. Not enough pool side music. Liked the "big movie screen", but not enough fun movies. Too many Cirque du Soleil and history/art shows going on in the middle of the day on the big screen.
the food was excellent..room was teriffic...the staff was wonderful
Pros: the food was excellent..room was teriffic...the staff was wonderful
Cons: the shows were horrible..not enough to do during the day...bad selection of movies..
Review: the ship was gorgeous..great accommodations but the events in the evening were horrible...the shows were terrible..& the movies selected were either for kids or old...some were new but nothing exciting...the staff was extremely wonderful but the food & relaxing time was great..thought that their ports were very far to walk & taking a car service was very expensive..they should have provided people with a bus going to areas without having to pay too much money or walk which was impossible...
The whole trip was wonderful
Pros: The whole trip was wonderful
Cons: No cons
Review: Plan ahead on the day excursions so you get what you would really like to do. I personally didn't enjoy tours where you walked around with a guide. It was hard to hear them and boring. The tours I liked the best were interactive ones where you were actually more of a participant. The ship did two afternoon teas for $10.00 a person and they were amazing. We don't drink tea so we had chocolate mint herbal tea. There is a waiting list for this. There is also a web site that you can get on to plan your off ship activities that seemed to be very good. I think it is cruise.com. It is a site that you can talk to other people going on the trip or have gone on the trip that give you good tips. We also had a balcony and I wouldn't do another cruise without one.

Pros: Nice crew; buffet meals very good; beautiful ship.
Cons: Too many people. Entertainment was poor.
Review: The cruise was just okay. Disappointed with the food in the dining room, the buffet had much better food. They need to replace all of their towels in the cabin bathrooms - they were very old and showed it. This cruise was not up to Princess's usually high standards. On the whole, almost all of the crew were very accommodating - but a few need more training in courtesy. This was our fifth Princess cruise and we were a bit disappointed.

Review: This was a terrific cruise. The food was excellent and the entertainment was outstanding. Service was wonderful throughout the cruise. The down side was how the island of St. Thomas which has deteriorated over the years. The downtown shopping area smelled from sewerage and many of the stores that were open for years are no longer there.
Shows, traveling with friends, Mini Suite, Crew, Ultimate Ship Tour
Pros: Shows, traveling with friends, Mini Suite, Crew, Ultimate Ship Tour
Cons: Some rust, food was down a little from last time, but still great
Review: This was our second cruise on Royal and we could tell the ship was a few years older and the line seems to be cutting corners. But, we really had a good time with two other couples and went to new ports. I like to cruise and would have stayed on board if I could.
Turned out better than we had hoped for.
Pros: Turned out better than we had hoped for.
Cons: No cons - everything was perfect!

Review: We happen to come upon an excursion online that you might consider adding to your choices of excursions. This was in Barbados...Silver Moon. A top catamaran with a maximum of 12 guests. The amount of foods provided was excellent, including fruit kabobs upon arrival. Check out their website. The excursions we booked through Princess were wonderful. We thought the St. Kitts one (Coastal kayaking, snorkel & scenic drive Code SKB880A) was well worth the money. I highly recommend that one. Overall, we had a fantastic time on this cruise although the fine dining was a bit too "fine" for us.
everything you expect, and more
Pros: everything you expect, and more
Cons: lost money in the casino, but I usually do!

Beautiful, friendly staff, good entertainment, smooth disembark, excursions well organized
Pros: Beautiful, friendly staff, good entertainment, smooth disembark, excursions well organized
Cons: Did not care much for food. Only went to dining room one night. The buffet had many foreign foods at lunch and dinner that do not appeal to me. Balcony stateroom was quite small as was the balcony.
Review: Enjoyable way to get back to the US, always enjoy a Transatlantic cruise.
Great crew, great ship, good food, lots of activities, good entertainment
Pros: Great crew, great ship, good food, lots of activities, good entertainment
Cons: technical problems, many cabins had no TV or telephone for several days, Internet Cafe too small for over 3000 passengers.. 15 terminals. 3 down the entire cruise
Review: Ship just out of 2 week dry dock. Systems upgrades caused problems in some cabins TV, telephone and ships Internet.
luxury ship, excellent service, large stateroom shower
Pros: luxury ship, excellent service, large stateroom shower
Cons: can't walk around the entire ship from the outside, access to the dining room levels only from level 7, same menu repeated each week
Review: Amazing! Had a wonderful time!
Newer Ship, Great Food & Service, Fabulous Itinerary
Pros: Newer Ship, Great Food & Service, Fabulous Itinerary
Cons: Up-Charges for Everything
Review: Traditional dining excellent, but evening show times don't mesh well with late seating. All-inclusive drinks package ($50 per day per person) sounds expensive but is actually a bargain as it covers coffee drinks, bottled water, gelato, and of course all alcohol. Wide range of entertainment, something for everyone's taste - fabulous magician act, singer, comedian, wonderful classical string quartet, piano players and funny crew-directed shows. Buffet food excellent - both in wide range and quality. Traditional dining room food excellent, as was service. Don't really need a scheduled shore excursion in many ports - can just walk off ship and have fun in town. Dolphin watch in Gibraltar fabulous, as was Florence & Pisa trip from Livorno. Recommend multiple pre- or post-cruise days in Rome, as we took - so much to do there. Annoying one must pay for internet access to check-in with airline at end of cruise, though.

Review: We enjoyed our cruise and found Princess to be fairly priced and elegant in it's presentations from the food to the ship's decor and entertainment. Their 'perk' program also seems very attainable and offers nice additions to one's cruise. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will be cruising Princess again in the future.
Great crew; Beautiful ship; Good ports of call; great entertainment
Pros: Great crew; Beautiful ship; Good ports of call; great entertainment
Cons: TOO MANY PASSENGERS; Balony (suite stateroom) too small; quality of towels; small theater
Review: Pros: The crew was great. As suite passengers we had access to a Concierge and private lounge, which we took advantage of. The crew (with the exception of a few) did an excellent job. Our cabin steward was excellent. Dining room crew did a great job. Ports of call were nice. The entertainment was very good. Cons: There were too many passengers. Never thought it would be a problem but it was very crowded. Most venues were crowded. Getting around the ship (at peak times) was difficult. Pool lounges were scarce on at sea days. Theater seats were difficult to get unless you arrived at least 45 minutes before the show. Our suite stateroom was nice but the balcony was very small. Suite was in need of a "freshening up". Quality of towels was poor. Very thin and rough. That was a real surprise. We expected better quality. My recommendation was "yes and no" for the reasons stated above. The ship is beautiful and nicely managed. However, the large number of passengers was a turn off for me. In the future I will sail on smaller ships.

Review: St Thomas Aerial Ride & Mountain Top for $24.98 I should have known what to expect by the cost. Took a bus to a short tram ride up, got off for a short while and back down again. I thought it would have been longer. The attendant said it was twice as long but the cable broke in an accident and they never rebuilt it the rest of the way up. It was a nice bus ride that ended in a Mountain Top store to spend money on t-shirts and souvenirs. The driver didn't narrate the trip at all. Would not recommend this trip. Our waiters, Allan Santos and Yuri Pil where efficient and very nice. There was bickering in the café from a girl that didn't want someone who was not her boss telling her what to do. Later, she went to a manager to complain. All this took place in the public area of the café. She may have had a legitimate complaint but I should not have been a part of it. I wish I would have filled out an employee praise form for our State Room Steward, Marion. He was a joy to talk to, he took care of us above and beyond what I consider very good. He was fun, always polite and happy. I understood that we would get this form to evaluate the staff after we get home, so I did not get a form on the ship. My error. Maybe this will make a difference on his review. He is a wonderful employee for Princess to keep.
The ship is really nice, our 10 day itinerary to the Southern Cariibean was excellent. We enjoyed the food and entertainment.
Pros: The ship is really nice, our 10 day itinerary to the Southern Cariibean was excellent. We enjoyed the food and entertainment.
Cons: Anytime dining room seating is crazy and disorganized for the first few days.
Review: We upgraded our room to a mini-suite. The room was relatively large and we were very pleased with it. One problem however was that it was in the center of the boat on the 15th floor. Unfortunately their outdoor movie theater is just above it and it was noisy at times.

Activities, Service, Cabin
Pros: Activities, Service, Cabin
Cons: Vertical mobility
Review: Elevators and stairway locations were inadequate for size and arrangement of ship; very difficult to move up and down for tours, dinner, etc. No stairs at mid-ships which made it difficult to go up and down during peak hours; should add stairs; Not everyone needs elevators--think about stairs and more elevators for people who really need them. Also very crowded during shows on board--need more seating or more flexible hours and seatings.

Review: This cruise ship is a very high class vessel and the crew does a out standing job of making you comfortable and enjoyable thru out your entire trip.
Ship clean, service excellent, food choices were lacking [asked for salmon daily and was only able to get it once]. Getting on and off ship was fast and very organized.
Pros: Ship clean, service excellent, food choices were lacking [asked for salmon daily and was only able to get it once]. Getting on and off ship was fast and very organized.
Cons: Food choices were limited, we had asked for salmon every evening and was only able to get it once. Buffett was excellent and we were able to get the salmon at the buffet, but would have rather NOT eaten at buffet.
Review: Over all the entire experience was 5*, we would for sure sail on this ship again. Ports were interesting and getting on and off was easy . Our waiter ED [sorry I don't have a last name] was the only waiter in the dinning room who took the time to go to his superior and did get us the salmon I had been requesting. Unfortunately we did not sit at his table every evening. [we went to open seating]. The open seating was absolutely fantastic for my husband and my self...we met so many interesting people. Recommend it 100% ...... Kudos to the entire staff and crew.
best ship ever been on in last 10 years, good entertainment and service
Pros: best ship ever been on in last 10 years, good entertainment and service
Cons: had to wait 45 minutes in the heat before processing to go on ship.
Review: The ship is new and every thing in good working order. The people on the ship go out of there way to do things for you. The food was better than other ships out there. The entertainment was good also. If all Princess ships are like this one, then they would be 1st choice over the other cruise lines.

Cons: Didn't stop us from having a great time but buffet food was displayed out of order how you would want things eggs one place toast other side butter in middle. We felt balconies were small
Review: After a few days of settling in we adjusted to any cons that the Royal Princess had. One thing I failed to mention was their shows were fabulous
The nightly entertainment is outstanding, our Allegre Dining was excellent with Alvin and Mark being our waiters on table 560

Nice cabin, good service, good food
Pros: Nice cabin, good service, good food
Cons: Too many passengers
Review: Anytime Dining required reservations, which had to be made by phone between 8AM & 5PM, which was difficult to do at times. We never had experienced that.
Saw so much!
Pros: Saw so much!
Cons: Very busy!
Review: Great time! Saw so many cities! Very hectic and little to no down time in ship. but again, saw so much! Ship was great, but large. Cool weather, so out not many people outside. food was not up to usual Princess standards especially noticed in dining room.
consistent quality with Princess
Pros: consistent quality with Princess
Cons: Laundry room on marine deck floods every time with rinse cycle. I had a friend who was on the Royal one month before me and their room was near the laundryroom and they said it flooded into their room. Staff said it always does that and is worse when in port. So why hasn't it been fixed? I finally went to another deck to do laundry and there was not one problem.

Cons: Small balconies, no Promendade Deck, no central staircase
Review: This was a very port-intensive cruise and we enjoyed seeing places and things that were new to us. Many of the points of interest are quite a way from the port, so plan on some long days on a coach. Be sure to bring an umbrella and warm jacket because summer in the British Isles seems like very early spring (or late winter) in Atlanta.
Entertainment and Activities; Food; Land Excursions
Pros: Entertainment and Activities; Food; Land Excursions
Cons: Pricey Shopping; No personalized info on room TV (menus, charges, etc); Casino cigarette odor
Review: Very nice ship. On par with my experiences on Royal Caribbean. Will sail again if opportunity presents itself.
ports of Call
Pros: ports of Call
Cons: ship layout and organization of tours and activities
Review: overall not impress with the ship. layout was horrible. elevators took forever. stairs were not located well some stairs went so far then you had to go and find other stairs especially to get to the Alegro dining room
Our berth was mid-forward on the left side of the ship which happened to be the side we docked on in all the ports, which was great
Pros: Our berth was mid-forward on the left side of the ship which happened to be the side we docked on in all the ports, which was great
Cons: Ship is very large, and the buffet dining is too spread out to accomodate large numbers
Review: The Excursions were very good particularly the last excursion to Normandy. The trip to Welch country side was particularly pleasureable. We met the Duke of Argyle at Inverary Castle, a real treat.
awesome service. Beautiful views

Quality of Shipboard Staff
Pros: Quality of Shipboard Staff
Cons: Basic layout of the vessel - getting around
Review: Our Stateroom Stewardess and Dining Room experiences (morning and evening) were outstanding, maybe the best its been on any prior cruise.
lovely ship with excellent service. Being platinum, free internet is great. Being upgraded to deluxe balcony was a plus.
Pros: lovely ship with excellent service. Being platinum, free internet is great. Being upgraded to deluxe balcony was a plus.
Cons: disappointed a shuttle service in St. Thomas from ship into town not provided
Review: This latest cruise was most enjoyable. Having taken several cruises, not only with Princess, but with other cruise lines as well, we have always enjoyed the ship experience.
Great Spa
Pros: Great Spa
Cons: Food court closed by 11pm
Review: Some areas of operation need improvement
My husband (Charles) and myself (Margaret) enjoyed the cruise very much. The cruise staff on that ship did an outstanding job.
Pros: My husband (Charles) and myself (Margaret) enjoyed the cruise very much. The cruise staff on that ship did an outstanding job.
Cons: I didn't encounter any problems on the cruise ship.
Review: Maricar Alicando our head waitress from the Phillipines did an outstanding job and our assistant waiter Abilaish from India did an outstanding job also. The both of them were very helpful in helping with the selection of the menu. Our steward Jenny from the Phillipines did an outstanding job in keeping our stateroom clean (Room E631). The other waiters we had from the international café to the buffet also did an outstanding job.
Beautiful ship!
Pros: Beautiful ship!
Cons: Suggested to Princess that they etend the time in Grenada and lessen the time in Dominica. We'll never go back to Dominic, to dirty
Review: Loved all the ports but Dominica!

Cons: elevators need synchronized
Review: Loved the 10 day cruise!
Everything was outstanding.
Pros: Everything was outstanding.
Cons: None
Review: Our cruise was most memorable with family and friends. We enjoyed all the islands with St. Lucia our favorite. The Grand Turk beach off the ship was the most beautiful but shops were expensive. We enjoyed The Boatyard Beach in Barbados. One price included beach chairs transportation and a free drink. Well worth the 15.00 per person we paid.
Friendly, knowledgable staff and crew; itinerary, nice variety of shows, pizza, pool areas
Pros: Friendly, knowledgable staff and crew; itinerary, nice variety of shows, pizza, pool areas
Cons: Small balconies; poor quality bathrobes and towels; no stairs midship; slow elevators
Review: Cruise overall was wonderful with a few exceptions. Our room had a mildew smell that was never resolved. Food was good overall in dining room and fair in buffet. Crown grill food was exceptional. Sabatinis food and service was excellent. Our Dining room waiters were exceptional. Would have enjoyed sitting in adult pool lounge area but high cost of renting chairs was not worth it .
The ship was very nice. The center atrium was very nicely done in Gold. But the levels was only three floors high. Anything more than that you had to go to opposite side of the ship and use the elevators. The elevators stated that it could fit 18 people ---the most we could get was eight and if we had a ninth-it was really packed. The elevators were so slow all over the ship-this was a big problem in trying to get to different levels. The food was Ok----very spicey. We only ate in the formal dinning room twice--we had better choices at the Bistro aka Cafeteria....even the food there was spicy--heard many people complained about the issue.....we paid the extra money and went and ate at the specialty rest.-there we could the food exactly how we wanted it--and this we enjoyed very much--but it did cost us another $100 + for good food. The room was one of the best we've ever stayed on a cruise--it was a little bigger and the bathroom was much bigger--you could actually move around in the shower. The room had 3D flat screen Tv-40"--this was really nice. The shows were Ok--nothing extravagant....we experience the same thing on a prior cruise-The Ruby Princess--so I guess entertainment is not a top priority. I've listed pros and cons in this review.

Cons: We went down and spoke to the travel agent for future cruise and we inquired about a future cruise to Alaska with 7 days on land and 7 days on a cruise ship........in the past when we booked other cruises while cruising we always got some great deals--ex: when we were on a cruise to Alaska with a different cruise line --we ended up getting a cruise for 2 weeks to Australia and New Zealand with air fare from Orlando and back for $5000..................this travel agent gives us a price of $9400---for Alaska -cruise and Land and 4 of the nites we would be staying in were Princess Lodges. asked her if this was the discount price--she said it was the only price.....couldn't understand this one--so we just left. We don't have any intention of cruising with Princess again--did it twice and were going to stick with the cruise line that we've had better experience all the way around.
Review: see pro's and con's.
Very good food,service,entertainment
Pros: Very good food,service,entertainment
Cons: No berries on board ,Ports like Dominica and Granada were a waste of time.
Review: Beautiful ship Easy to get around Zumba is free and at good times. A lot of activities to choose from,Nice flat screen in the room with good selection of movies, very good room service in the morning
Super friendly staff, Mini suite spacious, great entertainment, new ship, quick check in,
Pros: Super friendly staff, Mini suite spacious, great entertainment, new ship, quick check in,
Cons: Muster station insufficient seats, food not as good as prior cruises, internet cafe to small, balcony too small
Review: Wife and I Elite members. This is a big ship, got lots of exercise. Atruim is impressive. Entertainment in Princess Theater may have been the best of all cruises. Menus and food in dining room dissappointing. Staff was top notch. Nearly all spoke to us as we passed. Room Steward great. Seems like we paid higher prices on board. However, we enjoyed the 10 day cruise on the ship. .
food- entertainment was fantastic,
Pros: food- entertainment was fantastic,
Cons: the public restrooms were entirely too small. they must used the space more cabins ant the deck servers were not serving you,. you had to go to them to tea, coffee, even ice water.
Review: as above the ship had good qualities, but some bad ones for me.
Beautiful ship, restaurant choices, fitness center & smoking area
Pros: Beautiful ship, restaurant choices, fitness center & smoking area
Cons: Lots of walking, no stairs mid-ship, Princess Theater
Review: Overall a beautiful ship that I'd cruise on again
Great destinations
Pros: Great destinations
Cons: The weather played a factor in our stops
Review: The food wasn't great and the staff seemed to be new. The planned Destinations were great but the weather was bad the last 3 days of our trip so we skipped Saint John but still had down pours the 2 days in Halifax.
Beautiful ship, good food , decent entertainment, good value.
Pros: Beautiful ship, good food , decent entertainment, good value.
Cons: No stairwell access in midships, resulting in long waiting at the elevators and pricey extras to include internet and spa costs.
Review: Dining room staff were efficient but tended to walk in front of people with excusing themselves and a tendency to "poke" the diners when taking orders, presumable to elicit a quick response.
Great ports, outstanding entertainment on ship, food was beyond good, service was white glove.
Pros: Great ports, outstanding entertainment on ship, food was beyond good, service was white glove.
Cons: We felt 5 ports on a 7 day cruise was too much. But still had a great time!
Review: I would definitely sail Princess again.
Well organized, food quality and variety was very good, service - exceptional.
Pros: Well organized, food quality and variety was very good, service - exceptional.
Cons: Disappointed that there was no free wifi in the cabins or anywhere on ship. Did not like the jumbo screen looming over pool area.
Review: Randi selected an excellent cabin/location. Considering the size of the ship, we never waited on lines. Staff was well trained and exceeded our expectations. We were not anticipating that the two main dining rooms would have a nice cozy ambience. This was an amazing feat considering the size of ship and number of passengers. Entertainment ranged from good to terrific.
Nice new ship.
Pros: Nice new ship.
Cons: Ship was too large for some ports.
Review: Food was average. Half the entertainment was good but the other half was average. Crew was friendly but not able to excel because of the way the dinners were arranged (never got the same servers twice).
Pros: No Pros
Cons: No Cons
Review:
Very good on-board entertainment.
Pros: Very good on-board entertainment.
Cons: Horizon Buffet and Wheelhouse Lounge.
Review: Ship was well run and organized. I thought the on-board entertainment was very good. The Horizon Buffet seemed disjointed with salad ingredients in various places and not all together. I had to go to multiple stations to complete my salad. 3000 passengers seemed like a lot when ashore, but not crowded on board. The Wheelhouse Lounge is our favorite place on other ships, on this ship it does not have a dance floor.
Good time of year and special ship.
Pros: Good time of year and special ship.
Cons: Not a restful cruise.
Review: Everything was great except our flight home, which was no ones' fault. SAS was late leaving Copenhagen and we missed our flight from Chicago to Los Angeles and had to stay overnight to Chicago. All the ports were wonderful, the ship was beautiful, the food was great. Thank you for all special treats.
Beautiful SHIP! Breakfast and Lunch displays much improved
Pros: Beautiful SHIP! Breakfast and Lunch displays much improved
Cons: Dining Room food rate a 7
Review: Need a place to place drinks in the Princess Theater while you are seated! Armrest does NOT have shelf! Waiters in Dining Room not as "polished" as usual.... Service NOT so great!
Large ships offer a wide variety of activities.
Pros: Large ships offer a wide variety of activities.
Cons: I personally like a slightly smaller ship, and the cabin seemed a bit smaller than most.
Review: This is one magnificent ship. The marble, beautiful lighting all made for a lovely ambiance. The size can be intimidating, but being aboard for 26 days gave me ample time to adjust to that. I had great steward service and the dining experience was my best ever. The entire dining staff wanted things to be perfect for me.
Ship was beautiful.
Pros: Ship was beautiful.
Cons: Missed the ability to walk all ship length, around the ship. At night for the serenity of the ocean, and during the day time for our walking for our exercise routine.
Review: Our cruise on the Royal Princess was exceptional, and would do it again. Only I would be more aware of scheduling when weather was warmer for sun bathing and swimming.
Amazing skywalk over the water on the 16th deck
Pros: Amazing skywalk over the water on the 16th deck
Cons: Areas too small and cannot handle the large amount of passengers at one time....Princess Live theater way too small, Princess Theatre small and we had to get to the show 30-40 minutes to get a good seat, and no inside viewing areas or lounges to view the ocean or ports.
Review: When viewing the Royal Princess, it is very large and impressive but, the bottom line is - the interior areas are not as big as the smaller ships. The theaters, and lounge areas are smaller (for instance, the Wheelhouse Bar was combined with the Crown Grill - making both areas smaller), and the service and crew members were not as friendly as the other Princess ships. The biggest disappointment for us was not being able to sit in an area that was inside where one could comfortably view the passing port and ocean scenery. The Deluxe Balcony suite on the Royal did not appear to be any bigger than a regular balcony suite on the smaller suite and the balcony area was even smaller than the smaller ships. Overall, disappointed in the ship and will continue to cruise with Princess but not on the Royal.
very clean, service very good, staff excellent, food adequate but not great
Pros: very clean, service very good, staff excellent, food adequate but not great
Cons: not enough pools,
Review: The new ship is wonderful, at the beginning of the cruise people were not willing to squeeze into the elevators, but after a day or two, they learned that it was either squeeze or wait long. The amt of time that we had to wait for the tenders at Princess Cays was waaay toooo long. There has to be a better way to give out the tickets, give them out and let people eat or something else to do but sit for an hour. There is not enough room to swim or sit with your family on at sea days.
New Ship - Everything was spotlessly clean
Pros: New Ship - Everything was spotlessly clean
Cons: Room was smaller than anticipated
Review:
The food was good
Pros: The food was good
Cons: Small staterooms, staff not great. Waiters talking about guests.
