Fairbanks | Tuesday, May 21, 2024 | Tuesday, May 21, 2024 |
Fairbanks is the focal point for tiny villages scattered throughout the surrounding wilderness and a staging point for North Slope villages such as Barrow and the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay. Fairbanks is called "The Golden Heart of Alaska," a reference to the character of her people as much as to the location of Fairbanks in Alaska's interior, or to the discovery of gold in 1902. The Interior has temperatures ranging from 65 degrees below zero in the winter to 90 degrees above in the summer. Gardening is big in the Interior. Alaska Gardens abound. Fairbanks also has very long summer days. The shortest winter day of the year has less than three hours of sunlight, the longest never really ends, though officially it has over 21 hours.

Whittier | Wednesday, May 29, 2024 | Wednesday, May 29, 2024 |
Whittier, a once-isolated town, is gateway to Prince William Sound. The city is a historical landmark, established by the U.S. Army during World War II. Less than 300 people reside in the town supporting the Alaska State Ferry, the Alaska Railroad, the Alaska Hydra Train, the military tank farm for aviation fuel, the Small Boat Harbor and tourism. See wildlife, waterfalls (watch Horse Tail Falls flow up!), and more! Hike Portage Pass Trail or head to Salmon Runs, beachcomb, bird watch and pick berries. Watersports include boating, sailing, kayaking, and scuba diving. Winter sports include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. Begich Towers contains 198 apartments and are 14 stories high. The Buckner Building known as "the city under the roof" was central to this isolated Army outpost. Private developers built the Whittier Manor for civilian employees or military personnel ineligible for other housing. This building has been turned into condominiums. Whittier Visitor’s Center is housed in a 1957 rail car, originally built for Union Pacific as a cafeteria.

Hubbard Glacier | Thursday, May 30, 2024 | Thursday, May 30, 2024 |
Seventy-five miles long and covering over 1,350 square miles in area, the Hubbard Glacier is the largest tidewater glacier in North America. It is also one of the most impressive, a 300-foot wall of ice rising sheer and jagged from the ocean. You may hear the rumble and see the monumental splash as the glacier breaks off in great ice chunks, known as "calves."
Glacier Bay | Friday, May 31, 2024 | Friday, May 31, 2024 |
Spread across an impressive 3.2 million acres in southeast Alaska, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve offers an inspirational glimpse of what Mother Nature does best. The head of Glacier Bay is Tarr Inlet, where scientists have found exposed rock believed to be more than 200 million years old. The Tarr Inlet is home to Grand Pacific Glacier, an active body of ice slowly making way toward Margerie Glacier, which it last touched in 1912. Johns Hopkins Inlet is home to no less than nine glaciers. Framed by rocky slopes stretching skyward more than 6,000 feet, these wondrous bodies are eclipsed only by mighty Mount Fairweather, which at more than 15,300 feet is the highest point in southeast Alaska. In northeast Glacier Bay, the snow-covered Takhinsha Mountains feed active Muir Glacier. The brilliant blue glow of a calving glacier and the thunderous roar of ice crashing into the water below are sights and sounds to remember for the rest of your life. With such diverse landscape, the park provides a variety of habitats for animals.
Skagway | Saturday, Jun 01, 2024 | Saturday, Jun 01, 2024 |
This "Gateway to the Klondike" watched as fortune-seekers headed to Chilkoot and White Pass Trails during Alaska's Gold Rush. Today, feel like a prospector in Skagway, as you walk along its rustic boardwalks and frontier-style storefronts. This cozy town offers a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of most cities. With classic cars and one of the oldest narrow-gauge railroads in the world, the city retains the flavor of days gone by and remains an important link to Alaska's history. A stroll down Broadway is a must. Highlights include Arctic Brotherhood Hall. Other buildings like the Trail of '98 Museum, Corrington's Museum of Alaskan History and the Alaskan Wildlife Adventure and Museum present different facets of prospecting times. Before hitting famous Chilkoot Trail, there are other well-marked trails to try. Hiking to Lower Dewey Lake is an easy, 20-minutes, and there are more adventurous trails to remote Sturgill's Landing, Upper Dewey Lake and Devil's Punchbowl. The White Pass Scenic Railway and Eagle Preserve Wildlife Quest provide additional options.
Juneau | Sunday, Jun 02, 2024 | Sunday, Jun 02, 2024 |
Juneau is one of America's most beautiful state capitals, with the looming summits of Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts providing a gorgeous backdrop. Once part of Alaska's Gold Rush, the city boasts natural and manmade attractions. Downtown is filled with many vibrant buildings, including must-see St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, which houses artwork and artifacts dating back to the 18th century. From the bright mural in Marine Park to the carvings in House of Wickersham, downtown is filled with Alaska's own unique brand of culture and architecture. Often hailed as Juneau's most impressive sight, nearby Mendenhall Glacier is approximately 12 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. See the glacier on a float trip or a "flightseeing" adventure, or hike up one of its trails for a closer inspection. For a bird's-eye view, the Mt. Roberts Tramway offers a short, six-minute trek to the top of Mt. Roberts, 1800 feet above the city. If wildlife is your passion, scenic Admiralty Island has the world's highest concentration of brown bears.
Ketchikan | Monday, Jun 03, 2024 | Monday, Jun 03, 2024 |
Ketchikan is known as "Alaska's First City" because it's the first major community travelers come to as they travel north. The city is built on steep hillsides and is billed as salmon capital of the world. A quaint village, the town is three miles long and three blocks wide. With fishing boats sailing in and float planes ascending from the water, this seaside town is bustling with activity. With the world's largest collection of totem poles, Totem Bight State Historical Park offers insight into various native cultures of the Pacific Northwest. These wood-carved creations tell colorful, intricate tales – often showing a family history or depicting a local legend. Ketchikan has many options for adventure of relaxation, including mountain bike tours, sea kayaking, seaplane riding, or strolling down the boardwalk of Creek Street, Ketchikan's most famous section with a historic cable car and quaint boutiques. Blessed with an abundance of hiking trails, Ketchikan offers many breathtaking vistas, including the panoramic, 360-degree view from the top of Deer Mountain.

Vancouver | Wednesday, Jun 05, 2024 | Wednesday, Jun 05, 2024 |
Vancouver is a thriving metropolis surrounded by natural beauty. With parks, beaches, gardens, museums, art galleries and the second-largest Chinatown in North America, Vancouver lives up to its promise of offering something for everyone. With modern buildings set against green, rolling hillsides, this city is breathtaking; no location offers a more spectacular view than Stanley Park - with a zoo, aquarium, totem poles and honking geese. A short walk from the park leads to Robson Street, which offers the town's best window-shopping. Stores with European flavor share the avenue with delicatessens and tea rooms ready to serve. As architectural heart of the city, Robson Square features a central plaza with a food fair and an old provincial courthouse, which now houses Vancouver Art Gallery. Be sure to stop at 8 Pender St. - "the narrowest building in the world." Other points of interest include the Museum of Anthropology; Japanese-style Nitobe Memorial Garden; and VanDusen Botanical Garden. Capilano Canyon is site of the world's longest and highest suspension footbridge. |

Princess is happy to meet your request for low-sodium, low-fat, low-sugar, and vegetarian diets. Guests may visit Cruise Personalizer® on the Princess website (https://book.princess.com/cruisepersonalizer/) to indicate dietary preferences.
In addition, kosher meals and baby food are available upon advance written request. Any other special diet requests must be authorized in advance by the Princess corporate office.
Guests or their travel agent must advise Princess, in writing, of any special diet, allergies, or medical needs. Requests must be received no later than 35 days prior to departure for cruises to Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal and Coastal Getaways. For all other cruises, requests must be received no later than 65 days prior to departure. Once onboard, please check with the Maitre D' to confirm the request.
The shipboard medical centers are primarily intended to provide acute care for illness and accidents that may occur while on vacation and are not intended to provide long-term care for patients with chronic illnesses or as a substitute for regular health care.
The medical centers are intended to provide quality maritime medical care for guests and crew members aboard the ships; initiate appropriate stabilization, diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers for critically ill or mentally unstable patients; support, comfort and care for patients onboard; and facilitate the timely medical evacuation of patients, if appropriate.
Charges for medical services will be added to guests' shipboard account. Guests will be provided with an itemized account to submit to their insurance company. Please note that Princess ships are registered in Bermuda. Guests should verify with their insurer if coverage applies outside the United States, or purchase appropriate travel insurance.
Pregnant women entering the 24th week of pregnancy by the last day of the cruise are not allowed to sail.
All pregnant women are required to produce a physician’s letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and the pregnancy is not high-risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD) calculated from both Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and ultrasound (if performed).
It is strongly recommend that pregnant guests review their health insurance coverage before cruising. Many policies, including Medicare, will not pay for services or hospitalization outside of the country or for emergency evacuation.
Guests may want to consider Princess Vacation Protection, which is available for purchase up to the time of final payment of the cruise fare. If the guest did not secure Princess Vacation Protection, it is recommended that they secure other travel protection.
Keeping the comfort of guests a priority, Princess has implemented the following smoking policy:
Designated Smoking Areas
Clearly marked "Designated Smoking Areas" are available onboard and include a sufficient number of ashtrays that are emptied regularly. Generally, these areas include cigar lounges, a section of the nightclub and casino, as well as a portion of the open decks. As a safety precaution, passengers are reminded to properly dispose of cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco, which are never to be thrown overboard as this may be sucked back into the ship and cause fires.
Stateroom Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all passenger staterooms and on stateroom balconies. Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the guest's stateroom account.
Electronic Cigarettes
The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in all areas onboard with the exception of dining areas and the Princess Theater. However, should a fellow guest in the vicinity feel inconvenienced and complain, even after being told the difference between electronic and real cigarettes, the guest will be asked to refrain from smoking the electronic cigarette.
Princess makes every effort to accommodate guests with disabilities. Guests can ensure a successful trip by working with them in advance. Guests or their travel agents should notify Princess of wheelchair usage, special needs, and/or service animals before the voyage. Notices and requests must be made in writing and faxed to the Princess Access office at 661-284-4408 at least 30 days prior to sailing. For answers to any questions about the program, please call the Princess Access office at 661-284-4521.
All Princess ships have wheelchair-accessible staterooms, but it is highly recommended that guests bring collapsible wheelchairs, as the widths of the stateroom doors vary. Guests may bring their own, or they can pre-reserve a wheelchair and have it and other medical equipment delivered to the ship by contacting Special Needs at Sea at 800-513-4515 (outside the US 954-585-0575), or by visiting Special Needs at Sea's website (http://www.specialneedsatsea.com/). Alternatively, guests may contact CareVacations at 877-478-7827 or cruiseshipassist.com. Some areas on some ships are not wheelchair accessible.
Passengers utilizing mobility devices with batteries are advised that the batteries must be a dry cell type, and must be stored and recharged in the stateroom. Mobility devices of any kind, like any other items, may not be left outside the stateroom. Because of staffing limitations, it is recommended that guests travel with a companion who is physically able to assist them both onboard and onshore.
Travelers with disabilities should check in with the onboard Tour Office to ensure all shore excursions can accommodate them. Not all port facilities are accessible for those using mobility devices. Ports may be accessed by a variety of methods including a ramped gangway, a series of steps or by tender. In some cases, you may be able to access the tender, but the shoreside facility will not be accessible. Many ports of call use a mechanism known as a “stair climber” to assist passengers up and down the gangway. Passengers must transfer to a Princess wheelchair, which is connected to the stair climber and operated by the ship’s personnel. Guests may be precluded from going ashore if they cannot transfer or if their personal mobility device cannot be easily disembarked. With the safety and comfort of guests in mind, the decision to permit or prohibit passengers from going ashore will be made on each occasion by the ship’s Captain, and the decision will be final. Ports that normally use tenders to access the shore are noted on the itinerary.
The maximum weight of the wheelchair including guest cannot exceed 600 lbs. on transportation lifts. If the guests has purchased a Princess Transfer at the start or end of the cruise, they must be made aware that lift-equipped transportation may not be available in their port of embarkation or disembarkation.
Tender Port Policy
The goal of Princess Cruises is to provide a safe comfortable cruise experience for all guests. If a guest will be using a mobility device during their sailing, it is strongly recommended that they travel with a person physically fit to assist with the guest's needs both onboard and ashore. Embarking and disembarking can be challenging for those with limited mobility. Many major ports of call provide easy access for wheelchairs and scooters. However, due to various conditions - steepness of the gangway, weather, shore-side facilities, tidal and sea conditions - passengers using mobility devices may be required to transfer to a stair climber or be precluded from going ashore. Princess staff will make every effort to assist but are not allowed to individually physically lift more than 50 pounds (22 kg).
Some ports of call require the ship to anchor off shore. Passengers are then taken to shore by small boats or tenders. When tendering is required, passengers using mobility devices will not be transferred into or out of the tender, if lifting in excess of the above limitation is required. Many tender ports do not provide wheelchair access so even if the passenger can board the tender they may not be able to disembark ashore. Again the shore-side facilities, movement of the tender, weather and tidal conditions can also preclude tendering.
The decision to allow any passenger to board a tender or disembark the vessel will be made by the Captain on the basis of the safety and welfare of all involved and is final. If passengers are unable to tender or disembark because of circumstances outlined above there will be no refund or credit for missed ports. While Princess recognizes guests' disappointment, the safety of both guests and crew takes precedence.
Entry regulations for service animals vary by port. Passengers are advised to consult authorities at each port prior to departure for more information. Princess does not have food onboard for animals. The choice of dog litter material is limited and varies by ship.
Electronic Assistance Devices
Princess ships are equipped with “All-in-One Kits” with TTY that can be used in most passenger cabins and at Princess wilderness lodges. Most televisions onboard provide closed captioning and most onboard theaters have assisted listening devices. Electric outlets in most staterooms are limited to one and it is helpful to travel with an extension cord for electrical equipment. Princess also offers JAWS Professional software with a KOSS-TD/80 headset on one terminal in each Internet Café on every ship.
Internet access is available on all Princess vessels through the 24-hour onboard internet café and wireless network, which is available in staterooms and various public areas.
Guests can use the state-of-the-art computer systems located in the internet café to access their web-based email accounts or to browse the internet. Guests may also use their own wireless-enabled laptops to access the internet through the onboard wireless network.
Guests may contact the Internet Café Manager onboard for information regarding the charges that apply to internet and wireless services, and any other specific requirements.
Please note that internet access via satellite is significantly slower than high-speed connections on shore. Princess reserves the right to filter content accessed via the ship's internet services. High bandwidth consuming applications - such as voice over IP telephony, peer-to-peer file sharing, and streaming media - may be restricted onboard Princess vessels.
The onboard medical facilities meet or exceed the standards established by the American College of Emergency Physicians. Facilities are staffed by full-time registered doctors and nurses. In addition to twice-daily office hours, they are available 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency.
Princess offers entertaining options for kids ages 3-17. Scheduled activities are supervised by a specially trained staff of dedicated Youth Activities Coordinators. However, Youth Center staff cannot administer medication, bottle-feed, change diapers, provide meal service, or offer individual one-on-one supervision. Children must be 3 years of age or older and fully potty trained to participate in the youth program.

Submit Your Own Review!Staff were great, wonderful weather, very clean
Pros: Staff were great, wonderful weather, very clean
Cons: Food choices at the Princess lodges were a bit limited if you have limited cash. Or don't want leftover food. You can ask for a refrigerator but there are no microwaves in the lodge rooms.
Review: This trip was on my bucket list and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciated having two nights in each of Fairbanks, Denali and McKinley parks. Princess knows how to take care of every need, even on land. The weather was great most of the time. The excursions were on time and did not disappoint.
Super Friendly & helpful staff
Pros: Super Friendly & helpful staff
Cons: Food in Buffet needed to be warmer
Review: I realize it is difficult to keep food warm on a buffet, but it would have been a lot better if the food could be kept warmer, cold fries or lukewarm gravy isn't the best. But overall a great trip. Cabins were well maintained and when there was an issue it was quickly taken care of. Thanks Much
Staff and food were excellent, especially Niamh(Neve) from Ireland, Prince in food service and Roberto in housekeeping
Pros: Staff and food were excellent, especially Niamh(Neve) from Ireland, Prince in food service and Roberto in housekeeping
Cons: Ship could use update and fewer upcharge and less expensive shore excursions
Review: So enjoyed Niamh and cruise director Dave. Staff were wonderful and food was very good. Entertainment was good and rangers superb. Especially enjoyed the Mushers Camp excursion in Ketchikan and all of the information about dog sledding, especially as we had a 10 and 13 year old along. the glacier cruises were wonderful and the wilderness Lodge in Denali was wonderful. All in all the travel was made easy and a great way to see Alaska.
Great Princess Staff
Pros: Great Princess Staff
Cons: Older ship
Review: Great scenic cruise
Extremely well maintained
Pros: Extremely well maintained
Cons: Still 25 years old
Review: Lovely ship. Crew is phenomenal. Super well maintained. Exceptional service from all sides. Wouldn’t hesitate for a second to book another cruise on this ship.
The staff all around were without a doubt the most friendly and sincere group of people that we have encountered on a cruise ship. They were top notch.
Pros: The staff all around were without a doubt the most friendly and sincere group of people that we have encountered on a cruise ship. They were top notch.
Cons: Unfortunately the power failure in the aft section of the ship was a clinker but Princess did an extraordinary job making a tough situation tolerable.
Review: Loved our dinner table staff (Filipina and Ajay) as they were absolutely the best. We dined at our table almost every night on a 29 day cruise. Also the staff at Crooners was also top notch. Princess was fantastic in making accomodations due to the power failure in the aft section 7 of the ship. The captain kept us informed and delivered repairs as soon as it was possible. Hats off the Princess!
Medallion class app to make reservations and order food and drinks to your location is a real plus
Pros: Medallion class app to make reservations and order food and drinks to your location is a real plus
Cons: Need to be somewhat tech savvy to use the new Medallion app
Review: Ship staff was friendly and helpful with the new Medallion app needed to do and check on things. But once you get the hang of it very handy. Food was great in the main dining Tara’s as well as specialty restaurants. Alfredo sit down pizza on deck 5 included in price a nice option. Shore excursions were changed and canceled due to shortage of staff at ports, but this should improve. In Tahiti we were only the 2nd ship to come in since Covid shut downs over 2 years ago. I’d recommend Princess. I had the drink, gratuity and wifi package which I think is well worth it.
Stops, staff, room service foods
Pros: Stops, staff, room service foods
Cons: Food, entertainment, overall ship apperance
Review: I have been on about 40 cruises so my observation of Princess is based on my experience with other cruise lines.. Ship is old. It actually looks and feels like it. Many elevators, washing machines/dryers not working properly. There was one day where cabin toilet did not work. Food was repetative. If you don't eat pork, steamed vegetables or fish, you will end up only eating hamburgers and hot dogs. Hoeever, the room service food was good. Entertainment was so poor that many people walked out within 10 minutes of the show starting. This was a 29 day cruise and we didn't bother even trying to go to the shows after the 9th day. On the plus side, the staff were wonderful. From getting on board to leaving the ship they couldn't do enough for you. I can't say enough about how generous, attentative and pleastant every single crew member I came in contact was. If I knew this crew was on a different newer Princess ship, I would consider booking another trip on Princess. But since this is not the case, I ended up cancelling two trips planned for 2023.
Staff was great
Pros: Staff was great
Cons: Wearing masks! Yes I know it was for safety issues
Review: Staff was helpful and good attitude
The pros for Princess were the staff and the size of the ship. We enjoy the general atmosphere on the ships of princess.
Pros: The pros for Princess were the staff and the size of the ship. We enjoy the general atmosphere on the ships of princess.
Cons: The food was a little disappointing in the main dining room. It wasn't up to the past standards of Princess.
Review: We enjoy cruising with Princess and have our next two cruises with her booked. The Grand is showing signs of age, but nothing that would keep us from cruising on her again.
Able to get excursions at the ports so can see the important/recommended sights.
Pros: Able to get excursions at the ports so can see the important/recommended sights.
Cons: The loudness of some of the music on board.
Review: Our first cruise. The weather didn’t cooperate on the land portion of the tour but was still beautiful. I like stopping at the ports and having the choice to disembark to view the sights or choosing to stay on the ship and enjoy just laying around. The ships staff was top notch. Very pleasant. Always smiling. Always greeting you. Making sure you had everything you needed. Food. Various cuisines. The buffet with never ending food. All good. Great even. Various things on the ship to entertain you. Movies under the stars. Game show night. Musicians. Comedians. Swimming. Or just hanging out with friends. We would go again. In fact we have booked another cruise for 2024.

Small number of passengers
Pros: Small number of passengers
Cons: Entertainment options felt limited
Review: The Grand was a great ship for Alaska, allowing it up cliser to glaciers. But for a warm vacation, i would want a bigger ship with more options.
Nice ship, friendly staff, good food and entertainment.
Pros: Nice ship, friendly staff, good food and entertainment.
Cons: Despite all precautions, I got Covid
Review: The ship safety protocols were good, but i got Covid and had to quarantine the last day and disembarkation was completely apart from the passengers who were well. They did a good job and got us off the ship safely and quickly. There are still a few organizational/training details to work out on board the ship, but overall it went very well. In my opinion Hawaii is missing some of it's usual Aloha. it is understandable because of the pandemic shut down. They are just now opening up to visitors, but rental car availability, private tours, taxis and Uber were mostly non-existent. If you want an excursion, best to book it on board the ship early so you won't be disappointed. They sold out fast. .
Everything was perfect. Their health etiquette was admirable and we felt safe throughout our cruise.
Pros: Everything was perfect. Their health etiquette was admirable and we felt safe throughout our cruise.
Cons: There were none
Review: It was a once in a lifetime experience: As we boarded we were told that there were only 200 passengers on the ship, which can hold up to 2600 passengers. So, we had our own private yacht. Princess did not reduce service, instead when ordering a drink you had 3 waiters running over to your table. They did not skip on entertainment nor food, which we admired. Hats off to Princess. for making our cruise so enjoyable, thank you.
Food is great

Excellent food. Shipped look very nice. Employees very helpful. Professional captain. Everything seemed in order.
Pros: Excellent food. Shipped look very nice. Employees very helpful. Professional captain. Everything seemed in order.
Cons: Cruise director was very low energy and looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. Entertainment was less than in previous cruises. They seem to be cutting back on the number of shows.
Review: Overall a very good experience. I would recommend it.
good food and intertainment and good service
Pros: good food and intertainment and good service
Cons: elevators not always working
Review: during one night our air conditioning was out half the night which made it very uncomfortable. Also not told where to meet to obtain a wheel chair . Had to find out on our own. Was told earlier that a message would be sent to us about it.

Review: Every member of the crew with whom I had contact was friendly, helpful and seemed to really enjoy what they did. Crooner's and Wheelhouse were particular favorites, mainly because of the staff. Say hello to Vish, Bon(?) and Stephon. Very much enjoyed watching the dancing to the excellent and joyful music of the Larry Morgan Trio. Hi to Larry, Pete and Ruben. First time for art auctions. They were great fun. The tribute to Whitney Houston was excellent. Cruising Tracy Arm was a glorious experience. I had previously seen Mendenhall and Hubbard, but it was my first time seeing Endicott Glacier. Easily the most beautiful of the three. At least in my opinion. A truly wonderful experience all around.

Very convenient going out of San Francisco, nice suite, decent food, excellent weather.
Pros: Very convenient going out of San Francisco, nice suite, decent food, excellent weather.
Cons: Too many people, many of whom disregard any dress code, even on formal nights. For example, on a formal night in Sabatines, a specialty restaurant charging an extra $58 per couple, one man came in a T-shirt that' looked like a G-I undershirt.
Review: The passengers looked like a cross-section or poor people to well-to-do. This is definitely a blue-collar cruise for the most part.

Pros: The food seems to be very salty and the meet is usually overdone and dry
Cons: The dining room staff , especially the head waiter, Daniele, is very professional and accomodating but the service is a bit slow.
Review: We are repeat passengers and always travel with Princess. I was not impressed with the food quality . It seems that there have been some cut-backs and some of the staff is, at times, not as friendly as they should be. I find this at the boutiques more often then in other departments. They are at times very abrupt and not as professional as they should be.
Good size, easy to get around, terrific staff and great itineraries

Pros: A very well run ship. All the staff excellent. Food, and ports of call very good.
Cons: The ship looks a little "tired" and could do with some refurbishing.
Review: I very much enjoyed the cruise. I had to pick my times for going to the Horizon Court as often there were not enough seats available. However, several times we went to the Dining Room for breakfast or lunch. I would have liked to have a duplicate bridge game in the afternoons. I particularly enjoyed the day in Glacier Bay.
International Cafe, Derek Floyd (entertainer), Wait staff, Room Steward, Waffle Booth, Friendly and helpful service desk, waiters, servers in buffet, etc. People on board were friendly.
Pros: International Cafe, Derek Floyd (entertainer), Wait staff, Room Steward, Waffle Booth, Friendly and helpful service desk, waiters, servers in buffet, etc. People on board were friendly.
Cons: Ship is old but clean. We were told it was going into dry dock in December 2016. It can use updating. Price of tours is high.
Review: We enjoyed our cruise but if you have traveled on Crystal this ship is not the same. Princess prices are quite good so with that goes less in amenities. Food overall is good but like all the ships they are cutting back on what is offered. For example: Princess has always offered beef medallions as something you could order every day. On this trip, the only beef selection available every day at dinner was a hamburger. On my evaluation to Princess I commented about the change. Hopefully they will reinstate the beef medallions.
the wonderful staff! really enjoyed the art auction quite knowledgeable docent

Review: Lovely time. Great weather. Smooth sailing.
The food and entertainment was all first class, as well as the excursions we took (booked through Princess).
Pros: The food and entertainment was all first class, as well as the excursions we took (booked through Princess).
Cons: Getting our luggage onto the ship was a pain. Once we got our bags out of the car and were on the curb the porters would not come an help with our bags until I went to intercept one and waved my money. We and everyone else in line were really unhappy with them.
Review: This was our first cruise. It was everything we had hoped for and then some. The shipboard entertainment and games were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people, especially those who were at our table with the traditional dining we selected. We wish we could have afforded a stateroom with a balcony...that would have been really nice, but we were not unhappy with our small interior stateroom. Maybe another time we can get a room with a balcony so we can enjoy the scenery from our room.
Great service, attentive staff, relaxing environment
Pros: Great service, attentive staff, relaxing environment
Cons: Ports of call were too short!! The sofa/bed couch in the mini suites are too small and uncomfortable.
Review: This was our family cruise (12 of us) and our first time traveling on Princess Cruises, and we were not disappointed. There were a couple of glitches, but the Princess staff remedied them very quickly. For instance, my grandson and nephew had an uncomfortable first night sleeping on the sofa/bed in our mini suites. The next morning my sister and I went down to the Purser's desk and complained that the sofa/bed was too small and uncomfortable. They immediately sent a supervisor to our cabins to help resolve our complaint. She had roll-away beds brought in, and had the steward make up the beds every night using the roll-away as an extension. It worked perfectly! We were very satisfied with the attention and great service that we received. The ports of call were too short! It would seem that on a 10-day cruise that we would have more time on land. I wish we could have spent more time in Ketchikan. It seemed like we left the ship and had to return almost immediately. We did not have enough time to explore Ketchikan. Victoria was another short stop over. We bought the "Hop on, Hop off bus" that took 90 minutes to go around Victoria. Thank goodness we decided to stay on the bus otherwise we would not have seen anything of Victoria. There wasn't enough time to hop off and hop on to see anything before we had to get back to the ship!
Size, only 2606 Passengers and 1100 crew, a good fit. She is scheduled for dry dock in December 2016.
Pros: Size, only 2606 Passengers and 1100 crew, a good fit. She is scheduled for dry dock in December 2016.
Cons: she is old and worn, closets and shelves are very small, many room stewards are new and not well trained but clean.
Review: Very Good Theater layout, Marvelous entertainment, comfortable ship, Super bar people, good gym but the steam and sauna are outside, BAD! Food is better than O.K. but the 3 speciality dining rooms are Fantastic. She is only 300 people less than the Caribbean but much tighter in the Balcony rooms. Hopefully, the dry dock will include NEW CARPETS, DRAPES, CHAIRS (stained). Also Hopefully much of he staff will remain as they are very good; except for the less than fully trained room stewards.

LOVED THE MINI-SUITE WITH BALCONY ... AND EVERYTHING ELSE
Pros: LOVED THE MINI-SUITE WITH BALCONY ... AND EVERYTHING ELSE
Cons: WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE MORE TIME IN CANADA
Review: A WONDERFUL TIME, TOP FOOD, TOP SERVICE... THE GYM IS ON THE SMALL SIZE.. BUT I DON'T SEE ANY ROOM FOR THEM TO ENLARGE IT... SO GET THERE EARLY... WE WOULD DO IT AGAIN....
Great hardworking crew, excellent service, relaxing!
Pros: Great hardworking crew, excellent service, relaxing!
Cons: Buffet food lacked variety, flavor, and correct temperature on foods.
Review: Outside of a poor buffet the food in the resturants were very good. Tip... Don't miss the 3pm tea it was very nice. My husband was resistant and regretted not going everyday.
The friendliness of the staff
Pros: The friendliness of the staff
Cons: Large ship
Review: We prefer a smaller ship than this very large one. We liked the "any time" dining rather than the traditional dining because we met many different and interesting people.
Excellent service all around.
Pros: Excellent service all around.
Cons: We would prefer to have free soda and water like the Disney cruises
Review: Excellent experience

Pros: Friendly staff, helpful, seemed sincere,
Cons: Coffee on Liddo deck never seemed hot. One staff person (off duty but in pool area for training) wearing a tee shirt with very offensive word on it??
Review: I did notice that someone finally told him to remove the shirt. Totally understand that feeding that many people must be daunting but my breakfast was never hot, even under the warming lights (Liddo deck). The evening meals (Michelangelo) were excellent ( in my opinion)
Great Cruise
Pros: Great Cruise
Cons: Poor Service in the Piazza
Review: Ship has a new ACD called Colgate, "Made in China". He is energetic and fun to be around. Overall great experience, ship could use upgrading, and the Piazza Servers need upgrading. Great food and drink with outstanding wait staff.

Pros: Ease of embarking and debarking w/Hal in a wheelchair, great,
Cons: Condition of ship, entertainment, reservations, etc.
Review: I thought the condition of the ship had gone down. In the hallways and waiting for the elevators there were strange odors, like bad cleaning stuff. carpets need a good cleaning. Reservations for dinner. Too difficult to get thru to, always busy. Never did get to eat in the Crowm Grill. Anytime dining worked well. Again, we were never able to secure a table thru reservations but found by going down at 5:30 there never was a wait problem. one entertainer was so bad everyone was complaining. All that said, we had a lovely trip.Hal did very well. Smoothest cruise ever.thanks, Shirley
food was good
Pros: food was good
Cons: lack of enrichment lectures
Review: main entertainment is now 35-45 minutes, instead of the 50-60 minutes on previous Princess cruises. Dress now is quite informal; even on 'formal nights' people come to the dining rooms in very informal attire.
Everything!
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Would have liked more time at each port and would like to meet the Captain
Review: Enjoyed everything, Great Food, Great Entertainment, Activities, and especially enjoyed the Cruise Directors staff and presentation on Life at Sea.
Onboard entertainment and Cruise director's staff were excellent. I enjoyed the special dining experiences and the formal nights, and the buffet breakfast and lunches were always very good.
Pros: Onboard entertainment and Cruise director's staff were excellent. I enjoyed the special dining experiences and the formal nights, and the buffet breakfast and lunches were always very good.
Cons: My only other cruise experience was on the Regal Princess in its maiden season on the Grand Mediterranean, and that definitely set the bar very high in every way. The Grand Princess was not quite as glamorous (atrium area, running track) and it was not summertime, so I did not use any of the outdoor/indoor pools. However the Grand Princess entertainment and food services were just excellent, and I enjoyed everything I tried.
Review: I would tell anyone I know that I had a GREAT experience on the Grand Princess and would do it again.
The entire experience!! Professionalism, attention to detail of the staff. Shore excursions.
Pros: The entire experience!! Professionalism, attention to detail of the staff. Shore excursions.
Cons: This was our first experience, and we had zero complaints!!
Review: In a word--outstanding. The Princess experience was everything . . .and more. . that we had hoped for. Alaska is a visual overload, and it should be on everyone's "must do" list at some time.
Wonderful itinerary.
Pros: Wonderful itinerary.
Cons: Time schedules for airline connections.
Review: The trip itself was excellent. Alaska Airline was an unfortunate choice for Princess to make. Airplanes were very late. The person who rebooked us for the later flight, wasn't familiar with the connections in Seattle and therefore booked us on a flight that was to arrive at 2 AM. In actuality we arrived at 12:30 AM as we were rebooked in Seattle. On the return, Alaska booked us for a flight from Vancouver to Seattle ( 30 minute flight) and then from Seattle to SFO. There are plenty of flights from Vancouver directly to SFO without having to wait 3 hours for the flight to leave Vancouver and then race to the the flight for SFO....
Amazing that a ship this size could get so close to the glaciers
Pros: Amazing that a ship this size could get so close to the glaciers
Cons: Not enough common space to sit and enjoy new friendships
Review: Glad we had a room with a balcony, especially on this cruise - beautiful landscape to watch, and an occasional sea animal / bird as well.
Princess cruise is always a good cruise line, people are kind and attentive, the post cruise was well prepared
Pros: Princess cruise is always a good cruise line, people are kind and attentive, the post cruise was well prepared
Cons: The shows were not at Princess standard

Excellent embarkation and disembarking process. Excellent dining room and stateroom staff. Good on board entertainment and lectues
Pros: Excellent embarkation and disembarking process. Excellent dining room and stateroom staff. Good on board entertainment and lectues
Cons: Poor on board library, and too early start time for shows. The start time didn't allow enough time to get from the early dining to the early showf
Review: Overall this was an excellent cruise with the minor exceptions listed above. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. During the days at sea between L.A. and Hawaii there was a very good lecture series on the Hawaiian Islands that we would be visiting and a very good talk regarding the Pearl Harbor attack.
activities and staff
Pros: activities and staff
Cons: noise in room
Review: Had a large thumping sound in room but was finally fixed. Everyone was so kind and helpful.

This is a fun get away with a nice choice of shore excursions and plenty to do.
Pros: This is a fun get away with a nice choice of shore excursions and plenty to do.
Cons: Smoking in the casino - the smell permiates other parts of the ship. I would upgrade the ventilation or prevent smoking. It's a nasty outdated and expensive habit.
Review: We have done this cruise in the past and enjoyed it each time. The Sea Day itineraries should be updated for younger folks. Otherwise, the staff was great and made the trip fun. the tours and excursions we reasonably priced and a lot of fun.
All pros
Pros: All pros
Cons: None
Review: Very much enjoyed this cruise. Just the right combination of sea days and port days. We especially enjoyed La Paz and Loreto as they are not as commercialized as Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. Loreto is especially nice. The ship was very comfortable and the public rooms a nice temperature instead of freezing cold.
Interesting & fun ports; ship's staff professional and personable;
Pros: Interesting & fun ports; ship's staff professional and personable;
Cons: Dining room staff for "anytime dining" seemed to be too few for the numbers of passengers who were using that option.
Review: Greatly enjoyed the cruise. Port lectures were inconsistent; could have been better. Ports of call were all good choices with interesting and fun things to see and do. Recent redesign of Horizon Court is a plus. As always, ship's staff and crew were professional, skilled, courteous and personable.

Wonderful staff and Entertainment
Pros: Wonderful staff and Entertainment
Cons: Too long at sea not enough In Hawaii
Review: We have been on many cruises but never to Hawaii. Usually there are one or two days at sea and then visit the next port in some sort of system for 1-2 weeks. Two days at sea is fine...but 5 is a bit too long. I was busy enough...love crafts, games and music.(I even learned to Hula!)..so no problem. Husband had more of a challenge to find things that interested him. We both enjoyed the stage entertainment and island talks and of course the food. The service was impeccable and the food was good; however the ship is getting very old...saw some water leaks and one side of the buffet was close unexpectedly for a day. The excursions were fine...my fav was a sub ride. Husband's fav was our military/Arizona one on Honolulu. Ya next time we will fly so we have more time in Hawaii...now we know which islands to go to.
relaxing, they did everything for us
Pros: relaxing, they did everything for us
Cons: felt the Horizon Court food was a little less appealing than last year
Review: Had a wonderful time - would sail on Princess again - and would do the Alaska trip again

Cons: Some furniture needed updated and there was too much talk about
Review: It was an enjoyable cruise, but unfortunately the weather was not so nice. The main themem seemed to be about what we could "buy" in port, instead of what we could "see" in port. Sad.
Service was terrific from everyone on board from check in to check out! We met many wonderful people from all across the USA and the world. Thanks for the great weather as well!
Pros: Service was terrific from everyone on board from check in to check out! We met many wonderful people from all across the USA and the world. Thanks for the great weather as well!
Cons: I wish there had been more daylight time in Victoria! However,, it is beautiful at night!
Review: Some vacations that you plan and dream about for a long while fall short of expectations in reality. However, this cruise far exceeded my hopes and dreams!

Everything including the weather!
Pros: Everything including the weather!
Cons: Ate too much! Not enough time in Victoria.
Review: This cruise had everything we expected and then some. We had a group of 8 who got together frequently and also did many individual activities. There was almost too much to do at times.
mini suite were great. Tracy Arm excursion and White pass Excursions were terrific.
Pros: mini suite were great. Tracy Arm excursion and White pass Excursions were terrific.
Cons: Many of the staff did not seem to like their jobs and were not very friendly, as a general statement. However, there were several that were extraordinay.
Review: Food was fine.. .but not much better than that. Staff needed to be have a more positive attitude toward their work. Mini Suite was wonderful. cleanliness was very good. Entertainment was very good. Excursions were great. Tracey Arm was exceptional and a MUST. White Pass excursion was also wonderful....train ride was a MUST... too much time at the Musher lunch..but enjoyed the dogs and musher. It could have been a hour shorter and then spend a bit of time in Skagway.
Leaving from Seattle instead of Vancouver, ground transportation & services, great food.
Pros: Leaving from Seattle instead of Vancouver, ground transportation & services, great food.
Cons: Hated all the onboard sales especially from Spa & pseudo-medical-cosmetic treatments. Waste of paper and printing.
Review: Great cruise, outstanding service from cabin steward although the cabin itself needs a bit of updating and deep carpet cleaning, dining services were excellent with an incredibly amazing pastry chef! Naturalist on board was very good and insightful, his lecture and slides given in the Princess Theater were fabulous.

The staff and crew are very professional and always helpful. We have been so impressed with the consistancy of this part of Princess. They are slowly starting to refurbish the ship, and that is very good
Pros: The staff and crew are very professional and always helpful. We have been so impressed with the consistancy of this part of Princess. They are slowly starting to refurbish the ship, and that is very good
Cons: The ship is getting worn looking in certain areas. The chairs in almost all public areas need to be replaced, they are so very worn, including the dinning room.
Review: The round trip to Hawaii from San Francisco is such a pleasure as far as travel is concerned. Since we live in the Bay area, it takes away the flights and all the stress involved with the travel to get to the ship ordinarily. We just get a ride up to the port and we are there!
Good food.
Pros: Good food.
Cons: Could increase staff.
Review: Cabin steward was very distant and not friendly at all. He was slow to respond to every request. The dining room help was very good.
Staff, activities, production shows
Pros: Staff, activities, production shows
Cons: Not being able to dine by myself without waitiing.
Review: The 4-day Princess cruises work nicely into my personal and business schedule. This cruise did not disappoint me--even with the cancellation of the Astoria destination. I travel by myself and there were plenty of activities when I wanted to be with people and my stateroom was nice enough that it was a welcome refuge when I wanted to be alone.
Pros: No Pros
Cons: No Cons
Review: Over all reaction is that the cruise was a good experience. The food was very good. Several bath rooms only had one toilet and this caused lines and anxious customers.
Who doesn't love a cruise? Princess is very professional and gives a lot of attention to detail.
Pros: Who doesn't love a cruise? Princess is very professional and gives a lot of attention to detail.
Cons: The ship is just starting to show some minor signs of wear and will probably need to be dry-docked again before too long for a good spiff-up.
